So basically, unless you're fighting bosses a lot, it's still useless?
At least, that's how it seems to me. My lock is currently L45 and so far I can probably count the mobs that lasted for a full CoA on 2 hands (pure Affliction specced btw)

level 45 isn't a good point of view to be assessing the relative worth of things like glyphs. you have a very narrow field of experience.
CoA ticks 12 times over 24 seconds. it's damage increases in three stages so the ticks go:
W W W W M M M M S S S S
(where W is weak, M is medium and S is strong)
the glyph adds two extra strong ticks on the end. this increases the dps and DPET of the spell and reduces the need for recasting allowing for more dps via shadow bolt filler.
it is currently a suggested glyph for deep affliction builds.

I'm toying with the idea of replacing my Glyph of Corruption with it. Only thing hold me back is just how often my Shadow Trance tends to go off for me - which is fairly regularly.

While I appreciate the epic difference in experience between you and me, I would still like to stress the point that outside of a raiding or pvp setup, IMHO this Glyph would be less useful than others.
Like I said: outside of raiding/pvp - how often, even at L80, will you be in a fight that will last longer than 24, let alone 28, seconds?

true but at 80 why would you worry about glyphs outside of raiding/pvp.

Outside of raiding/5-mans, I can see some use for affliction multi-target leveling/farming since you typically just spam cor & coa on everything close to you. Single target, not so much.

It depends if you look at it from a PvE or a PvP point of view.
I'd actually say that both glyphs are a bit crappy for PvP, whilst GoCorruption is completly worthless for PvE compared to GoCurse of Agony. If you look at a DPS spread sheet from lets say EJs forums, you can see that the uptime of the Nightfall buff with 2/2 in the talent is so low, that if you were to double it (which the glyph does not do, but almost) it's just not worth it anyway. The DPS you get from GoCoA, GoHaunt and GoLife Tap are so much higher in comparition to the GoCorr

the glyph of haunt really IS that good.
i can't stress that enough. there was a small debate on another thread where others said that glyph choice is common sense and i argued that specific glyph choice is actually quite complicated and requires theorycraft to be absolutely sure.
in this case, however, "The bonus damage granted by your Haunt spell is increased by an additional 3%." should make it pretty clear. any affliction(PvE) player who doesn't take this glyph deserves to be pointed and laughed at.

Asa, I'm just going to hunt through patch notes and try and clarify, but I'm fairly certain it adds ticks in the middle now, so you get extra medium ticks rather than extra strong ticks at the end.
I'll edit if i find the notes that say so!

GoCoA's first iteration was as you say irharry, it added medium strength ticks at the end so it went:
W W W W M M M M S S S S M M
after this was discovered and discussed GC admitted that it was a poor glyph and they changed it to two extra strong ticks. i can't remember which patch this happened in but it was well prior to 3.1.
zephrith, that's not a great way of looking at it. you've actually looked for a very particular and relatively unlikely situation for your example there. what if, instead of two full unglyphed rotations we had one and a half? in this case the glyph would have made a big difference. what if the fight lasted 5 minutes like the boss fights that we tailor our talent builds, gear and glyph choices around?
one of the oft-forgetted things about this glyph is that it allows CoA to scale very nicely. CoA gets 10% of our spellpower per tick for a total of 120% of our total spellpower. the two added ticks essentially add 20% to CoA's coefficient.
the glyph of CoA isn't a massive DPS boost but it does provide a nice DPE boost which provides extra damage via extra filler and extra mana.

forgive me for quoting myself but that's the answer to your question. in itself it provides ~20dps increase but the big increase in DPET leads to extra dps from other sources.
the damage per tick isn't increased but the spell goes from one that receives 120% of your spellpower to one that receives 140%
