Restraint vs Obscure Titansteel

So I recently won a spiffy new staff in an OS 25 PuG. I know full well that with any staff, you're trading spellpower for stats. It's a sad truth no matter what you enchant it with.
As a Discipline healer, I'm wondering if I can still put it to use. I've run a couple of heroics with it and haven't noticed any grand difference yet. So, here's the goods.
Staff of Restraint
+69 Spellpower
vs
Handbook of Obscure Remedies
Titansteel Guardian
+50 Spellpower
According to
the comparison
I'm loosing 55 Spellpower before enchants, which goes down to a loss of 36 Spellpower after enchants.
So, the final question boils down to this:
Is 36 Spellpower worth trading for an extra 36 Crit rating and 72 Intellect?

Your losses are actually less, if you enchant it with the +81 SP for staves enchant, also take into account the fact that the staff has considerably more spirit on it then your off hand, which is also going to help narrow the gap in the SP loss.
I'm in the same position you are with the same offhand/main hand combo and have personally been trying for that staff for a while, since none of the healing 1h weapons want to drop for me in Nax25.

Seahawks, you're probably looking at this from the perspective of a Holy priest. Sadly, Discipline doesn't have anything that converts any stat into extra spellpower.
Spirit is only there for regen and nothing more. The raw numbers are what we get save for Intellect which we get a bit more of.
Now, I know of the
+81 Spellpower Enchant
, but it's near prohibitively expensive. I'll try saving up and saving mats for it, but I'm not ready to make the investment just yet.
It's the same reason I didn't enchant my weapon with
+63 spellpower
.

Don't mess enchants with each other, he was comparing two cheap enchants. You shouldn't compare a cheap enchant with a expensive one. He specificity noted two cheap enchants. If you want to compare 81 spellpower on staff take the 63 on main hand, those are form equal level.
Cheap:
50 Mainhand
69 Staff
Difference of 19 spellpower.
Expensive
63 Mainhand
81 Staff
Difference of 18 spellpower.
Edit: Not having money to enchant a weapon with a slightly better and way more expensive enchant! How slacky is that! (Just kidding.)
But on topic, 72 int is a lot, 36 crit is also decent and most likely worth the upgrade. At the other hand we are talking about a "minor" upgrade. You already won the staff, so no harm done. (It's not worth when you had 63 spellpower on the mace or was planning to spend DKP on the stave)

Plus the +72 Int Adds you your mana pool thus regen and to your crit further increases the appeal of the staff.

I would say that if you're cracking 2k SP with both sets, go with the Staff. More Intellect and crit is tremendously helpful and higher SP starts to taper off after you top 2k-ish SP.

Before trinket or cloak procs, I have never cracked 2k Spellpower. Nor have I felt I ever really needed to when I've healed with life-saving effectiveness in almost every pre-Ulduar encounter there is.
Still, my trinkets and Lightweave enchant get me over 2500 spellpower at times so I usually have an extra kick when I need it.
Edit: I'm sitting at 1945 spellpower with the staff, without any buffs or anything procing (with Inner Fire)

I was under the impression we were talking about a Disc healer.
Lightweave
, as it was changed into a spellpower proc, is a great enchant for healing throughput. It's no longer exclusively for DPS.
Since I never have any problems OOMing, unless the group as a whole sucks really really bad, I go for throughput increases whenever I can.
Do your homework before you troll next time. Okay? Thanks. Bye.

Why are people in our forums getting so mean with one another lately? There are way too many sword fights going on around here lately.

I saw the change, just didn't know that it procced off healing as well. You're sincerely the first/only priest I know of using it for healing.
Probably because the rest of us dropped tailoring :) Man, what took me so long? For those who kept it, Lightweave is superb.
Anyway, I have two important things to say. First, Staff wins, as others have said.
Second, you have my vote for best thread name in a long time. Looking forward to future performances.

All is forgiven. Sorry if previous trolls spoiled my responses.
I can easily forgive when it comes to not knowing every little change in an ever-changing game.
The changed Lightweave Embroidery is what ultimately made me stay with Tailoring. (That, and the cost of leveling another profession)
Second: My only other option was "Restraint vs Titansteel Remedies". Neither seems all that much better than the other so I just grabbed the first one that came to mind.
Last: If you'll notice my new profile icon, I have adopted the staff and will see about getting it uberly enchanted in due time.
I did a weight scale comparison between the gains and losses using the preset weights. The result pointed heavily to the staff being the better option.
72 Int + 36 Crit > 36 SP
