1800 is a pretty acceptable number for heroics. Most groups won't complain if you're doing that much.

When i
tank
heroics, my dps ranges between 1800-2000. I prefer the dps'ers in my parties to at the very least top the tanks (me) dps. So 2k+ IMO for heroics.
Though most of the time people in my pug heroics average around 1300-1600.

As dps for me as tank i do ~1.9 in 5-mans (with 10/25mans depends on buffs) but when i dinged 80 it wasnt that high at all.. I did 1.4 to 1.5 as tank.
Most dps i see in pugs are around 1.3 to 1.8 some better geared are +2k. But those +2k dps peoples are mostly doing the daily and 10/25 mans so expect to see more 1.3 to 1.8 ranged dps.
1.3k dps are the freshly dinged green stuff quested players (fast lvlers) and the 1.8k are the ones who level them self through instances (slow lvlers + learning class in dungeons) like im doing with mage or already has some Heroic gear.

i have helped gear up a guildie that lvled a dk alt in hc's the last days. we went in hc's the second he had dinged 80 with whatever gear he had acquired from quests (no instances) which was 50blues-50greens and no enchants. and he was putting out 1.8kdps, now 3 days laters and several upgrades (all drops) later + most gear enchanted and a little adepted rotation he is doing 2.5kdps. a number he could have pulled from the start if he would have bought some crafted epics and had enchanted his gear and researched his class from the start.
you ppl seem to forget most of an heroic is aoe and the boss fights are so short you have a rediculous uptime of your trinkets and cd's. that inflates dps so doing 1.5k dps in hc is like doing 1-1.2k on a longer (fe patchwork) fight assuming the conditions wouldn't change. that's what ppl were doing in karazhan and you can't come tell me that well selected q blues and greens aren't better then t4 gear.

No, my 1.8-2k dps while tanking is on single target bosses in heroics, not aoe dps.
I honestly dont care how much dps you do on trash mobs, when i check the dps meters i look at boss fights only. And IMO dps'ers should be doing at least 2k dps on a single boss target for heroics. Though most pug dps'ers dont actually meet let alone exceed my expectations of them.

true, although in hc's i do tend to look at overal dps, bc most part of hc is trash and that determines how long the run is gonna take, on top of that you do need a measure to kick a dps before the first boss, bc kicking someone after a boss is something i don't do bc he's saved then.
2nd it's just what i assume this person is talking about bc when a dps posts recount in party chat it's always overal and never for a specific boss.
