Hi all, i just got to 80 and after testing dual wield i decided to go 2hander.
Anyway, which build would do the best dps without great gear?
I'm thinking either
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jfVMVZG0xxAbckf0Vostc
as frost or

.
Which of these would be the best for heroics/naxx10 and 25?

I've been told in quite a few places that Unholy spec is much better for entry-level gear, and then once you get higher up it's a more even field between the 3 specs.
I got carried through Naxx 10 on my DK last week (5 blues, the rest are greens, no enchants) and overall for the night I had 1900dps, with
this
spec. And I know I should get rid of
On a Pale Horse
in lieu of more DPS, and I believe
Desecration
isn't all that worth the 5 points either.

Desecration is mandatory 5/5. It's around a 4.2% increase to _everything_ you do except your Ghoul's damage. It sucks somewhat on movement fights, but it has 100% uptime when on-target. There is no reason to skip this talent.
Where the hell else are you going to put 5 pts and get over 4% DPS?

Desecration isn't mandatory per say because it can be argued with some movement required fights that it'll drop consistently prior to 5 stacks or after achieving 5 stacks
5 stacks? What are you talking about? Desecration doesn't do stacks. It always procs at 5%. It doesn't do 1, then 2, then 3, etc.

5% desecration requires 5 talent points. Some builds tend to skip over other talents for the 5 points for Desecration, depending on gear/rotation Desecration isn't that amazing. Also due to rotation it depends on proc some people tend to not pick up reaping leaving 2 SS in second rotation, so yes 100% proc chance but as mentioned during a movement fight you'll lose that buff. :P
This is another example of IUP's importance in UH though. Faster speed = more Desecrations. And, truth be told, Ignus isn't kited all the time and I tend to stand just inside the back of his feet so that when the tank moves I only move a short distance before I am back in his hitbox. You can remove part of the kiting loss of DPS by being alert and having an adequate connection. Knowledge of the fight assists here as well: if you know when he needs to be moved, be ready for it.
Gear/rotation don't make any sense to bring into this. Every single UH build uses PS and SS. You will ALWAYS proc Desecration no matter your rotation. And gear? It's a percentage buff: it scales with your gear. If you have a TSD or an Earthshaper, Desecration is still 5%. Gear matters not: Desecration will scale it and scales even better when raid-buffed.
Reaping is also a moot point. The buff lasts 12 seconds which is more than a full Rune CD set (8-10 seconds depending on your latency). In that 12 seconds one of two things will happen:
1) you'll SS or PS and get the buff or
2) you'll have to move (or die, lol) away from the target for whatever reason. You're not DPSing at this time except diseases, DC and UB anyway so Desecration isn't cracking out to be amazing. Then again, neither are you at this range so this is redundant. Once you get back on target, boom, Desecration inside of a few seconds.
So Reaping does not matter: you're going to SS or PS soon anyway. Whether your Glyph procs or not, you'll get the proc from this talent soon. Whether you have 3 SSs or 2 SSs in your second round doesn't matter. You are still going to get this buff.
The other point to mention here is that even on some very movement-heavy fights like Mimiron, the area you move around in is not gigantic nor is it very far to move. You'll nearly always be in the range or fringe of the ground effect except for when you move out to avoid mines in P1.
Even a fight like Hodir can be worked with. You just DPS the inside flank of him so you drop the effect closer to the interior of the room. Makes it easier to maintain that way.
