Algalon cannot destroy Azeroth. He is but a messenger of the Pantheon. The Lich King most likely has the power to defeat him.
Wht Algalon does is send a message to the titans, and then they come and purge our world. They are the ones with the power to destroy Azeroth. It's beneath their feet the Lich King would crumble.

Algalon will not fight the Titans. If you defeat him, he sort of regrets what he has done ("
Millions, millions lives wasted!
"), but doesn't oppose them. Plus, I have a mild hunch that the necromancy practiced by the liches (and the Lich King consequently) has derived from some form of Old Gods magic. Call me insane, but minor things like the fact that the OGs are parasites -
necro
photic parasites is a hint for me. Raising stuff as undead, to me, has always looked like instilling a parasitic force in it, to animate the body. I know there have never been evidence for a connection between the Old Gods and the Scourge (besides maybe the OGs manipulating the Legion every now and then, and the Scourge being a product of the Legion), but I just have a hunch...
Back to Algalon and
Arthas
the Lich King (I swear, it's hard to keep calling him that, even for me!) - even if Algalon doesn't find the Lich King connected to the systemic corruption he was sent to investigate, I am pretty sure the Scourge can be categorized under "corruption" as well. Fairly certain the Titans didn't intend living things to die only so they can come back to a semi-life and infect the entire world with their disease. So Algalon should oppose the Lich King, if they ever get in an encounter (after all he was not sent to investigate the Scourge, as it's not as big of a problem as Yogg-Saron).
