It kinda depends what items ?
If its the Storm Helm + more epics/blue`s, I would say do it. Those items are normally alot more exspensive, and quite nice for a hunter. Ofcourse you need to be sure he isnt a scammer, but if he isnt, go for it.
The deal seems a bit fishy to me... since Storm helm alone is worth around 800/1k gold (on my server), so I hope he isnt a scammer. I would check this very well.
But as far as your question goes, take the items.
ps. Link the other items aswell so we can see what the deal is.

In the beginning of the post he said he has 1207 gold. If you take about 50g for skills, and perhaps a talent respec, he has around 1100 gold (minimum). If you take 600g for those gear, he has 500g over. THen he only needs a measly 200g for his mount. Tbh thats maybey 2 hours grind, maximum. That helmet + other items is a once in a life deal. I doubt he ever has the chance of getting such a thing again.
Aka, take the items. Grind tommorow 200g and you got both. Win-win situation.
