I have wondering alot and everyone I talk to say different about this.
Prot or Retri for fast levling?
everyone says retrib for leveling...
I however, use a mix of holy and ret. (40/0/16 atm).
and I kill things just fine...I use
Dreadtusk's Fury
, so I get quicker hits and SoV (SoC sometimes too) procs more often.

I'm doing pretty much the same thing as Pyromage. Mostly holy, with enough points in ret to kill things. I'm specced down to Eye for an Eye and it's more than enough to get by.

I leveled my Paladin 10-40 as Ret. Then 40-68 as Protection. Protection is very fast grinding pre-outland. Once in Outland I think Ret would go faster though.

This guy's got it right.
1-40 as retribution.
At 40, respec protection till about 60, then choose what you want to do.
The reason for the respec as prot is because of potential for AoE farming as well as *insane* survivability. I know at 45 or so I was soloing 3-man quests simply by putting up Seal of Wisdom and using Seal of Righteousness for DPS.

The +spell damage gear you can find in Outlands makes Retribution a viable spec.. just be prepared for a *lot* of eating and drinking at first.

depends HOW you level, as anyone will suggest
if you're like me, you'll find and do all the easy quests for your level and hence ret will be more suitable for it (i pick out single mobs for quest kills), or you may prefer to AoE grind and group up with others.
i used a combination or ret and prot (since ret is considered "fragile") and SoC + reckoning was cool.

lies!
lol
you seem to be referring only to gear that looks like paladin gear
you can just use MS warrior gear for ret if you can find some int gear to make up for it....
if you can do enough damage as ret, you'll only need to drink once every 10 kills or so, faster than using wisdom to top up your mana
if you're worried about the water cost, just find a mage to give you some water before you head out :P

I would use ret at the lower levels and than prot at the higher levels, thats just my personal opinion though.
