*Points to self*
I wandered the Randomness forum for quite a while, but slowly life began to press its weight upon my shoulders. I had to neglect my fellow Randomnessians and Queggyites in order to bring my grade in AP Chemistry from a high C to a high B (I did, BTW).
But I am BACK!
No one cares what your grade in AP Chemistry is, only whether or not you make a 5 on the test.

I never took AP chemistry... or AP anything...
Anyway, today I had a terrific day at work. I was able to isolate a problem using theory of fluid dynamics and articulately explain it to the engineers in my company. None of them believed me, but I produced a way to test my theory, and showed that I was correct. Due to my natural ability with physics, I saved my company at least 75K dollars, as well as a month of manual labor, all in one morning.

That's cool and all,
but do you have what it takes to be a wowhead celeb?

LoL.
By the way, nice job. Still, that doesn't take away from the fact that taking AP chemistry would have saved you money while going through college.

I didn't go through college. I have no degree.

Now he deleted his post, and edited Laihendi's post so no one can see what he said. Nice.
But Laihendi has it copy-pasted for future use ;)

really?
do you make as much money as you could be?
I make enough that my wife doesn't have to work. I also am able to afford complete health, dental, life, etc for my whole family. I'm by no means rich... but I can't say what it would have been like had I gone to college... I have no idea. Statistically I would make more money, i suppose... maybe... Hard to say.
I'm bright enough to teach things to people who have got bachlor's degrees. I'm working in the place of someone who had a master's degree. He was working on his doctorate... his dissortation was about nano technology. He was a smart guy. I respected him.
Anyway. I'm happy where I am. I still plan on going through college, am and currently enrolled, but it is more of a hobby type of thing. Sometimes they are very informational and fun. Other times it is a waste of my money.
It all depends.

Going to college and getting a degree doesn't make you smart by default. There are plenty of smart people that don't have degrees. Honestly I think the smart people stay out of college because they see the "waste" of money it is. Seriously, how much debt does the average 4 year institution incur? It takes college grads many years to finally pay all that back. And in the mean time, they could have possibly made more money (debt to income ratio), plus they then have longevity with their current job.
Sure having a degree might open doors to jobs that might not be available to some, but I know there are plenty of well paying jobs that don't require a degree.
Laihendi just saw on CNN the other day that the unemployment for those with only a high school education is about 10%, whereas for those with at least 4 years of college education it's under 5%. That doesn't take salaries into consideration, but it does prove that at the very least having a college education provides much better job security.

Sometimes, like in my case, you can get a job that normally requires a degree, and a level of competence.
They hired me into this job as a temp laborer. I was sweeping floors. Within 6 months I was in research and development section proposing automation improvements.
Find your niche. Impress the hell out of people. Make it happen.
Edit: Gotta agree with Laihendi though. The college degree is a statistically safer road to go.

/agree about MyTie, but it still wouldn't hurt to try to impress upper management (not by brown-nosing, but more by merit).
Basically the other part you are talking about is in agreement with what I said.
Yes. Today I seemed to have caused a stir in upper managment with my fluid dynamics theories. The engineers keep coming to me with questions... it's a little funny.
