when BC was released it was terrible.. servers were down 4-5 hours almost everyday for over a week. not to mention all the lag and crashes amongst other things.
Correction...your server must have been down. You must play on Ravenfail cause its always down. :( Anyways, the server I was playing on at the time was just fine. Then again it was one of the newest servers at the time which was added right before TBC came out. I don't remember a single problem on that server. Sucks if your experience was different on your server.
judging by all the problems wow has had in the past 2 weeks i made the prediction that the release of wotlk will be absolute HELL... some people told me "nah, it'll be straight"... but so far i am proving myself right
How are you "proving yourself right". You make the assumption that this downtime has anything to do with WotLK and you have nothing to back that up. The servers could be just find Thursday. When they aren't just fine on Thursday then you can come say you told everyone so and have some creditability.
if we can't play the game for 2 days before the expansion, what makes you think we'll be able to play for 2 days after it?
Spurious Correlation -- Thinking two things correlate with each other when they do not. Its one of the oldest fallacies in philosophy. Just because you think the two things are linked doesn't mean they are, and they most likely are not.

its about Blizzard's troubling patterns with regard to maintenance performance.
When was the last time Blizzard had to extend their maintenance this much? I don't recall it. :\
So I'm pretty sure there isn't a troubling pattern quite yet. There's an incident, but not a troubling pattern. You also need to put this incident in context. They're dealing with a ton of data with bugs in it while also planning to expand on that data later this evening. If something is going to go wrong its going to hurt the servers for a bit longer than usual.

How many accounts do you freaking have on here where your gonna post about kissing blizz's ass?
I have one account. I joined yesterday to pass the time at work. Now quiet silly troll child, you're contributing nothing but dumb to the conversation.
This isn't a matter of kissing Blizzard's ass. It's a matter of common sense and experience, both from my job (which - surprise! Involves maintaining global networks and applications) and from years of gaming. I won't lie - its an amusing diversion to talk down to people in a forum who obviously have no idea what they're talking about. I post, walk around smiling to myself about how foolish you really look while I do other things, then come back to see what poor insults get thrown at me for pointing it out to everybody else. This is the part where you respond by saying you don't care, or swearing at me, or try to chuckle it off in some way, generally. I suggest you don't bother and go do something constructive instead and try to save a little face.
I just tried a 5-hour energy drink for the first time. They taste awful and have the same ingredients that over-the-counter urine cleaners sold at head shops have, but woo am I flyin'. *cleans the house while waiting for game-up*
And yet your sitting at work on here trying to pass the time but at the end you say your about to clean the house? Right Nice try, even stupid people can make themselves look smart.

A few people lost some in game mails. Big freaking deal there too. I don't think the problem as of late is with the down time. I think it is with them bringing the servers down to fix problems that seem so insignificant.
Aw lemme guess you didnt have anything in the mail right or any incoming auction house transactions? Shut up.
Yes I did. However, unlike you I realize that not only is gold pointless in this game its so freaking easy to get that I don't mind losing a couple thousand here and there. What I had in the mail was absolutely no big deal. Maybe you should learn how to play the game in regards to gold if you think losing a day of auctions was actually a big deal. I would have much rather lost a couple hundred gold than a day of play.

I think tomorrow we will be talking about how angry people are because they have their expansions in hand, and how laggy Northrend will be.
