I've found a simple way to get Item's colors work in phpBB 3... enjoy and share !
Fill in the form with the following:
BBCode Usage:
{SIMPLETEXT}
HTML-Replacement:
{SIMPLETEXT}
Help line:
This vbCode creates an wowhead.com-Link which provide sweet item-tooltips of the linked item. Only works if the wowhead.com script is active.
Display on posting page:
Mark as selected.
Hit
Submit
Congratulations, your done!
Go to your message board and test the new BBCode. You can use the following BBcode for testing:
Plans: Thick Obsidian Breastplate
A great Item
Have fun!
Points I work on:
phpBB Installtion-Guide
SMF Installtion-Guide
Create a small icon to use as a button in the WYSIWYG-Editor
Take a look into eqdk

Thanks for this addition, I'll edit my guide.marcimi, I noticed some problems in Items that have punctuations in their name, such as ' or :
I've just replaced {SIMPLETEXT} with {TEXT} and is working fine for me now.
Did you also noticed that as well ?

Is there a way to get spells to work with this script?
Not yet. But Adys (or was it Miyari?) mentoined, that the script will support spells soon, too.

I suck at javascript, but isn't it possible to make an Item Name Here tag that automatically parses to the correct item? Without doing the whole thing?
I use Xoops btw, with NewBB2.
This would be a deal-breaker for our forums, since we have a huge number of old posts using that format that I don't want to break.

I've played around with this a little, and it seems to work well for text links, but when the link is an image, the tooltip does not appear. Is this by design?
This works:
Eye
of Flame
This does not:

I'm having a problem with tooltips showing up with some funky formatting. Can anyone help me fix it?
Here is an example:
http://5thhorizon.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=12653#12653
Fixed.
This was caused by some silly generic CSS rule of yours. It read as follows:
th
, td.spaceRow, td.th {
color: #CDF0CC;
font-size: 11px;
font-weight: bold;
background: #57864A url(images/th.gif) top left repeat-x;
white-space: nowrap;
padding: 0 5px;
text-align: center;
height: 26px;
border-left: solid 1px #3CC231;
border-right: solid 1px #1A7D16;
border-top: solid 1px #41C339;
border-bottom: solid 1px #1A7D16;
}
Seriously. wth :p

since it somehow eats the line break. Any clues on what might be the problem there? Using SMF 1.1.4
Try editing the
HTML Code for the BBCode
to this:
{content}
I hope this will help.
s there a way to make it easier for the forum users, so they don't have to look up the item id, and can just link the name of the item between tags?
You can realize this with writing a small modification for your message board. But this will require some skills in programming (basicaly sockets and xml-parsing with php, asp or java). I do no have the time to realize this for any message board, I'm busy enough with m own projects. Sorry for that.
Don't forget, that Itemname maybe will not work properly with different items with the same names (Warglaive's of Azzinoth for example).

for some reason pastebin wont work for me, will post code in a sec (will link it in this post)
EDIT
Was able to get pastebin to work, the code can be found here:
http://roath.pastebin.com/f30b537f6
all the function needs is the text that contains the tags and it will fix it, however i made it so that it will only replace itemlinks that are also closed, any open tags will be left as-is. Same thing goes for items that does not exist.
You are most welcome to use pastebin to post any suggested/recommended changes to the code as i know its messy.
Any suggestions on how to implement this code on a site such as Proboards.com? Or is this only used for site with their own BB code installed on thier server? This would make it easier for our members to use the item tags.
Good work on this. I love it!
Currently the code is far from done, ultimately it will be a few simple php functions that anyone with knowledge of the system you want to use it in should be able to implement it into, taking into consideration that they know php.

I've messed around with the XML feeds a bit and have modified the current wowhead script to accept straight up item names, as well as recognize custom item tags. It will also color the links according to the correct item quality on mouseover.
You can find all my code here:
http://wowhead-tooltips.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
Here's a sample of what kind of tags / links will be converted:
Doombringer
Terestian's
Stranglestaff

Earthshaker

22632

Note that this relies on a serverside php script to proxy the XML requests as Javascript does not allow cross-domain requests.
You can see it in action here:

With this, it should be easy to implement in eqdkp as well... although will involve a bit more effort due to the number of files that need to be edited.
I'll get working on it and see what I can do.
Any chance that these scripts will be hosted by wowhead? Or will we have to host them ourselves?
One of the best things about it being hosted by wowhead is it gets updated for us without us needing to do anything :P

Very rough proof of concept for eqdkp using arador's xml parsing eqdkp
http://www.avarice-nagrand.net/dkp/
OPEN
/<dkp>/templates/<templatename>/page_header.html
find

{PAGE_TITLE}

Add after:

OPEN
/<dkp>/viewitem.php
find
'L_PURCHASE_HISTORY_FOR' => sprintf($user->lang, stripslashes($item_name)),
replace with
'L_PURCHASE_HISTORY_FOR' => sprintf($user->lang, "
" . stripslashes($item_name) . "
"),
FOR the following files:
/<dkp>/templates/<templatename>/viewmember.php
/<dkp>/templates/<templatename>/viewraid.html
/<dkp>/templates/<templatename>/viewevent.html
/<dkp>/templates/<templatename>/listitems.html
find
{items_row.NAME}

replace with
WH - {items_row.NAME}

Note they will have a
at the front of these lines. Leave the number untouched.

Also, to get Arador's script working on phpBB 2.x.x, so you can do Mote of Earth without need for any :
First apply the instructions
posted by Kalroth
OPEN
/<forums>/includes/bbcode.php
replace
$bbcode_tpl = str_replace('{DESCRIPTION}', '\\2', $bbcode_tpl);
with
$bbcode_tpl = str_replace('{DESCRIPTION}', '\\1', $bbcode_tpl);
and replace
$patterns+)\](.*?)\#is";
with
$patterns(.*?)\#is";
I fail at copy paste

It's worth nothing that your script does not produce correct links into wowhead's site at the moment Arador, producing links until an item has been mouseovered... I guess this is OK, but if someone clicks before it loads it will throw a 404.
I didn't think this would be an issue since you need to mouseover a link to click it, but I didn't think about using keyboard navigation. I'll fix this tomorrow, should be easy.

(I sometime post in this section for asking about IPB links, but i do not know who delete it T_T in the end i firgure it out myself! :D I dont care bout the crazy mods who delete my post!! :D What ever it is Wowhead RAWKS!!!! ) :D
For people who are using IPB 2.x.x
Here is how you do it.
Just place in the script into your header in your selected skins under Header and Footer
which mean, Admin CP > Look & Feel > Edit Board Header & Footer Wrapper
add this in the

area.

Next go to Management >
Custom BBcode > Add new BBcode
Follow as below
Custom BBcode Title : Item link
Custom BBcode Description : Link item into your forum post! Powered by Wowhead!
Custom BBcode example :
Tower Shield
item tag
Custom BBcode tag : item
Use Option in tag? Yes
Switch option around? No
Custom BBCode Replacement : {content}
Insert into the editor's 'Insert Special' menu? Yes or No is up to you!
Rest after that is up to you to put in :P
Click Add BBcode to finish editing
I feel there is compatibility issue in web browser, might be that firefox cant see the tooltip. But i already tested on IE, if there anyone can test for me please do so! thanks!

Ok, my code is fixed, it now converts links on page load instead of mouse over. It also works in IE now. Finally, it uses the vanilla wowhead script to actually load and display the tooltips; my code simply converts the aforementioned tags to links the wowhead script can understand.

For phpbb3, a bit more advanced bbcode (yet simple) is:
{TEXT}

You can then make your links using this bbcode:
Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker
itemname
^^
