Hello,
I'm not sure if anyone is still looking at this or not, but I have a site that I have been working on. I have been able to get the script working after several tries and searching and perusing through here.
What I am stuck on at this point and not able to find (more than likely, I read it but unable to comprehend) is how to change the colors of the links. I figured I could use the 'a ref' tags and add 'class=qx' but the site im using is not workin as html. its one of those simple click and create things. tbh, i would like to find something a lil better but not sure how to work the phpbb sites.
Anywhoo, here is the link to my site:
www.freewebs.com/wow-aholic
What I have done is created a lil page for each crafting profession, and listed the BC faction vendored recipes to condense all the searching for patterns. What I need is to color code the recipes as the green, blue, white etc.
Any help or direction is greatly appreciated,
Thank you

For the e107 users, here's a cross link to Septors post on how to get this working.

Thanks Septor. ;)
Any info on how people get their site to simply generate an item without knowing the item number?
My guild site uses e107, and i have the mousover thing working, but i've found sites (tankspot.com) where linking a wowhead item is as simple as Commendation of Kael'thas and it generates the link and tooltip without knowing the exact url. How would i go about getting this to work?

I've messed around with the XML feeds a bit and have modified the current wowhead script to accept straight up item names, as well as recognize custom item tags. It will also color the links according to the correct item quality on mouseover.
You can find all my code here:
http://wowhead-tooltips.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
Here's a sample of what kind of tags / links will be converted:
Doombringer
Terestian's
Stranglestaff

Earthshaker

22632

Note that this relies on a serverside php script to proxy the XML requests as Javascript does not allow cross-domain requests.
You can see it in action here:

hi,
I'm using this script with the french DB of wowhead (fr.wowhead.com) on my guild's website, and I'm having problem with accents with FF (in IE it works perfectly, even the quality coloring).
Items without accents (ê,é, etc.) show the tooltip and the coloring, and the others don't... but the xml returned from the request is the xml for the right item, but it simply don't format the

tags in FF (it does in IE).
Example :
www.lesangesnoirs.fr
wordpress 2.5.1
php5
utf-8 encoding
sames files used, except the use of fr.wowhead.com instead of
www.wowhead.com
Kinder.
Nobody can help me please ?

Please wait for a localized version of
www.wowhead.com
. This has been mentioned several times in the Sitefeedback-Forum and after the official launch of the russian world of warcraft a localized wowhead.com isn't too far away now. Please download the wowhead-looter addon and collect as many data as possible in the russian world of warcraft.
With a russian wowhead the tooltips should be avaiable in russian, too.
For further reading about the russian world of warcraft and a localized wowhead.com, stick to

If you can'not edit your Templates especially adding custom java script, the tooltip-script will not work on
www.rundboard.com
.

Actually i do this:
Pyrogenics
Pyrogenics but i want the french traduction !
What about changing the bbcode-template? Just add the fr. infront of wowhead.com.
Like this:
HTML-Replacement:
{TEXT}

Has anyone had any luck with fixing the WordPress plugin, for WordPress 2.6?
That plugin was great! But unfortunately in WP 2.6 it removes the "add media" options when creating a new post. I think it might be something to do with "jquery" conflicts? I had a go at fixing it, but no success yet :( I'd be greatly appreciative if someone smarter than me can have a crack a it ;)
Edit:
ohpolaroid
, it looks like it could be a stylesheet issue... if you can post a link to your blog, or somehow copy it out to a test page for us (if you're worried about privacy), that would give us more information to go on!

Is there some way to enable tooltip links for gmail?

AvaCam
- I think you could possibly get them working in Gmail if you used
Firefox
and installed an addon such as
Greasemonkey
, which will allow you to run personal Javascripts on a webpage.
The tooltips would only work for yourself, however. Your friends wouldn't be able to see tooltips unless they used the same setup (but once you'd worked it out for yourself, you could give them instructions).
