Hey folks, I'm planning on making a DK and I
REALLY
don't want to have to use a 2 hander.
If you guys could give me some feedback on what a good DW Unholy build would be for PvP I'd be grateful.
This is what I came up:
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=jfV0qcZZfM0IxfkLxoocsup
Since most unholy damage comes from diseases and +damage per disease I don't really see the advantage of using a slow weapon, plus hitting faster and more often increases your chances to proc Blood-Caked Blade
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=49628
.
Cheers.
Actually Blood Caked Blade seems to have an internal cooldown. Currently it appears to be about 10 seconds. From my own play testing with Unholy I have found that talent to be woefully lacking.
Also for PvP you want high burst damage, and your best bet is therefore to stick with a 2H weapon. Also you will definitely want Virulence for PvP as a single shaman with a disease cleansing totem down is going to be your worst enemy.
Further, Impurity is, in my opinion, completely worthless. I've run with it maxed, and without it and I've seen no appreciable increase in my damage with it. Whether it's broken or just not very good, I can't say. But I've run without it and still get 1700+ Plague Strike crits at 62.
I'm not sure how good Anti-Magic Zone is likely to be in PvP. A stationary location that reduces spell damage might be good in BGs, but probably won't help out much in Arenas. I haven't done much PvP however, so I couldn't say for sure on that one.
Furthermore if you're dead set on dual wielding then you really need to get
Nerves of Steel
. There's no good reason not to.
Additionally my opinion of Necrosis is that it's utter junk. For 5 talent points you'll barely get an extra 2.4% damage. Definitely not worth it. Of course that's using a 2H. Dual wielding might change that, but I can't be certain.

This is what I would go with for a PvP dual wielding Unholy build. (The one point in Unholy Aura could go anywhere, but Unholy Aura is nice since it's a static permanent movement increase.)

heres my tanking spec plz comment
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/deathknight/talents2.html?tal=0055011030000000000000000003052005133032110321230101351005000000000000000000000000000
im planning on tanking hard hitters even though ill tank better with my warr or pala
I would dump Death Rune Mastery for Unholy Command and 2 full points in 2H Specialization. Death Rune Mastery is supposed to help out Blood Death Knight, who want more Blood Runes, by converting their relatively under used Unholy and Frost Runes. But by specing Frost you're not going to really need that. It's the Blood Runes that you'll really find holding you back.
On the other hand doing more damage = generating more threat so obviously another point in 2H spec is good. And Death Grip also works as a taunt and you will likely use it quite often to pull a stray mob off your healers and DPS.
Other than that it looks pretty solid to me.

Blood PVP -
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=jfV0qI0IsbRtuhoZf0G0xro
having Death rune mastery, reduced CD on anti-magic shield, chance to hit with spells & chance not-to-get dispelled for diseases, 20% blood-caked strike, 20% less stun and fear duration, less CD on the Grip, total Strength + Stamina increased by 2%
any comments? :)
As I stated above, Necrosis is NOT worth taking. The damage increase is marginal at best. Also BCB is not proc'ing properly. At best w/ 2 talent points you'll get a 10% proc rate. Whether the tool tip is inaccurate, or there is a hidden cooldown is still being debated. But either way, you're not getting what you're paying for.
I would absolutely get Epidemic. Having your diseases last longer means more damage from them, and having to refresh them less often. While that may not be an issue as much in PvP, it's still something I would go with.
I would also get Outbreak. Blood Boil and Pestilence are great AoE effects, and you'll be using Plague Strike constantly anyway.
I would drop BCB entirely. It's just not worth it. Instead, you should be putting points in Blood Worms. I can't say for sure how effective they are likely to be in PvP, but they provide extra DPS and extra healing and all it asks of you is that you spend the talent points.
I would also dump Blood Aura. Consider: If you deal 30,000 damage, Blood Aura will only heal you for 600 health. Sound worth it to you now?
I'm not sure about Hysteria. The one time I recall using it on myself, it killed me. It would require testing, but anything that costs you health is probably a bad idea for PvP.
Finally I would get 2H weapon spec, if you're planning to use a 2H weapon.

is what I would go with.

Hello, I'm planning on rolling a death knight once the expansion comes and since I unfortunately didn't have the chance to participate in the beta i have no experience with playing one.
However I've lurked around some and I've almost decided that I will go blood since it seems to be the best at solo-fights (which I'm planning on doing the most) and leveling the fastest with zero downtime.
Frankly it doesn't matter what spec you go with. None of them have a lot of downtime. I've played with all three, and of the three I've been most happy with Unholy. Of course I also like hunters and warlocks, and enjoy having a pet. If that's not appealing to you, then Blood or Frost are certainly solid choices.
This is a level 60 build which I've made but since I've never actually played it so i would really appreciate some feedback.

, Perhaps picking up
Vampiric Blood
earlier? I dont know if health is a any of a problem.
You will absolutely want Vampiric Blood. In addition you will NEED Death Rune Mastery. Of all three trees, Blood is the most rune dependant. You're adding 3 skills that REQUIRE Blood Runes, but you'll only ever have 2 of them. That severely limits your ability to use your skills. DRM will help out tremendously with dealing with the rune issues all Blood DKs have.
Since this skill procs off Obliterate, as well as Death Strike, it would also be a good idea to go Frost as your off-spec to get Annihilation. On top of that, Toughness is a great talent to have if you're taking Bladed Armor, since having BA means Toughness will now also boost your AP.
You should also get Dancing Rune Weapon. It basically doubles your damage every 3 minutes. I've heard some complaints about the nerf to the cooldown, but it's still a pretty powerful weapon, and you won't have a lot to do with all the Runic Power you'll be getting with this build anyway.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=jfVMqh0Icf0tzAo
is what I would recommend. If you really want Improved Rune Tap (more for tanking, really - the basic version is fine for soloing), Hysteria (not a good soloing skill at all), and Marked For Blood (not a bad skill, but it's more of a boss fight, tanking skill, really) then I would give up Sudden Doom, rather than anything else.
Lastly I would also appreciate if someone could go through the skill-rotation with the current spec.
Thank you!
Plague Strike - Icy Touch - Heart Strike - Heart Strike - Death Strike (or Obliterate) - Death Coil as SD procs, or as an RP dump
If you use Obliterate, just repeat this to get your diseases back on the target.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=jfVMqh0Isf0tzAohg0th
Is what I would work towards. Lichborne will let you occasionally heal yourself with those Death Coils, as an added self heal.
