Hi,
I didn't see
http://www.shadowpriest.com/
listed in the "What are the default weight presets based on?" FAQ entry, so thought I'd recommend it. There is a few "best gear" threads with ranked listings of gear and much discussion on what's "best".

I'd like to be able to weigh different socket colors and meta sockets, not just # of sockets.

Love this feature. I'm one of the many people who requested it, and I find it indispensable.
Couple of things to suggest:
- Force socket colors: I'd like to be able to compare items gemmed in proper colors to items gemmed for max score. 1) Yes, I'm anal like that, 2) it helps to decide which items will lose me the least by gemming in order to meet a meta requirement.
- Stat upper bound: This would be useful for stats that have a theoretical cap of some sort. For example, if I only need 20 more expertise rating to cap out, I'd only want to score up to 20 expertise points on a given item.
- Location of currency item, rather than vendor: This is a more general suggestion, but I thought of it while looking at the weighting output. It's more useful to have the item's location listed as the location of the currency item drop (tier tokens, item trade-ins, etc) than to list the location of the vendor that sells the item.

I'll echo that one, though it would do interesting things to the top-of-the-tiers items. >.>

I haven't read everything here...but...(sorry if this has been said)...
Currently, strength is worth 48 points on the preset. Attack power is worth 24.
Strength gives 2 points of AP each, so obviously that's equal. However, talents that increase strength by a percent, or Blessing of Kings, for instance, should give even MORE points to strength. I suggest perhaps 53 (10% more) instead of 48.
Also not that noticeable, if a DPS warrior needs to tank midfight...strength increases block value.

For the stat weighting selects two red gems when the item has one red and one blue socket.

And ?
The socket bonus is useless for a DPS warrior, that's why the system choose 2 red gems, in order to be more DPS efficiency.

What could be added in the weighting system is the ability to select the weights when you view a single item, to see what score that item has, and compare manually to what you have. It'd make it easier to compare gear of different kinds (guns vs. bows etc.)

I was looking at some PVP gear for an enhancement shaman when I saw the following:
http://www.wowhead.com/?items=4&filter=sl=8;minle=154;maxle=159;ub=7;cr=79:93:21;crs=1:1:1;crv=0:0:0;ma=1;preset=7.pve.enhance;gm=3
The hunter boots are ranked slightly above the shaman boots. The difference in stats here is:
+30 AP
+16 crit rating
-37 agi
Is the AGI being overvalued, or is the hunter item actually better?

I've got a bug for you that I didn't see skimming this thread (quickly, mind you). When using the weight scale with default values, and using the 'include Rare gem' setting, epic gems are being shown in some cases. As an example, browse Plate Hands with the Protection Paladin weight scale (rare on item quality and included gems). Gauntlets of the Bold will show up with Epic gems instead of blue quality.
