What's the best way to make gold?

Right. I'm asking you what you want to craft with it.
I'm checking the AH to see what sells the best on my server, it still seems like savage truesteel essence is the best choice, but I'll be making up my mind soon as my gametime is going to run out in a few days.
So I browsed through the AH and here is what I found:
1. Savaga truesteel essences sells for about 10k gold.
2. Mighty truesteel essences sells for about 5k gold.
3. Crafted truesteel gear varies a lot but can be bought for about 400 gold.
4. Crafted truesteel gear that has been upgraded to stage 6/6 sells for about 30k gold.
So the best way to hit the jackpot would probably be by selling truesteel essences or selling crafted gear that has been upgraded, granted that is actually sells of course.

At this stage in the game, nobody and I mean nobody is going to pay 40k gold for 715 ilevel armor.
But, if you were to try this route you would have to obtain both Savage Blood and Felblight to upgrade gear to 6/6.
That's 60 Savage Blood and 90 Felblight. I assume you don't have them, so you'll need to buy them. The average price these days is 100g and 120g respectively.
Do you have the 16,800g you will need?

Trying to sell 30k items is an extremely risky game if you don't already have enough gold to cushion any losses. Stick with the smaller stuff.

After thinking about the trading post and the lumbermill, I have to say that I agree, the lumbermill is the easiest way to obtain resources, but its time consuming plus I need the trading post to trade some of the items that I need, so as soon as I have my buildings maxed out I'm probably going to get the trading post again.

Don't think about it. Just do it!

Selling or listed for ? big difference. it takes weeks of study of your Ah to find out what is actually selling and what is being past in. I even find the undermine journal to be a little off in that regard
And if you care to look back I linked a guide that tells you what to make and what upgrade level is the most profitable to sell . However this late in the expansion the bottom has fallen a little out of this market , not as many buyers anymore, so much so that I have stopped making gear to sell and use all my ore and herbs to trade for primals then ontrade for bloods. Your realm my be different though so research research research to find out
Also the trader doesnt have to be at your garrison. If , for example, the ore trader is up today just type in trade " looking for ore trader' and someone will invite you. Just r-click your portrait once you are in a group and select " view leaders garrison" and you will be transported to their garrison and you can use the ore trader that is there.

My subscription ran out, but i managed to obtain a total of 28,000 gold. It's not enough for a token, but its probably the most gold I have had in a long time. I also spend a good amount of gold on garrison buildings, blueprints and what not. When I subscripe again, I'm going to focus on making gold with my professions as well as my garrison buildings. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't manage to get enough gold for a token, but that is the way it is.
I just started playing again a few days ago. I'm looking to completel my garrison and I have chosen these buildings, barracks, tavern, trading post, gemshop, blacksmith, dwarf bunker and a salvage yard. Anything I missed? I swapped out my lumbermill with a trading post because as previously suggested, a lumber mill costs too much time and a trading post basically just lets you start a work order whenever you want.

Nope. You're good to go. Just do NOT place work orders at the JC's (unless you are also a Jewelcrafter). The resulting mats are bound, have no vendor value and you won't be able to craft a single thing with them.

Well, you can actually craft some purple rings and necklaces with them, that sells for a few hundred gold, but I'm not sure if its worth it.
With ore you can craft the blues. Epics, gems and upgrade tokens are the sole use of Taladite Crystals and only Jewelcrafters can produce those, so Taladite Crystals are only bag space and mats wasters for non-JCs.

I completed my garrison, and all my buildings are maximized. It has been a lot of hard work and a time consuming process, and it has cost me a lot of gold, so hopefully it is worth the investment.
I'm on 45,000 gold by now but the freaking price on the token just keeps increasing, its currently 72,000 gold and it just keeps increasing. It's going to be seriously tough unless the price starts to drop.
I managed to get enough gold to buy a token. It was a ridicilious amount of grinding, but I got it, so thanks to everyone in this thread who was helping out, you guys are awesome.

Congrats.
Well that's one token and it's only taken you the best part of 9 months.
You seem to have argued against and fought good advice from day one.
One of the many things holding you back is your bewildering staunch refusal to make any alts. Every max level alt you have will easily double the amount of gold you can make. You pretty much only need to camp them at your garrison.
(During the short time I've been typing this and browsing wowhead, my alts have made me 8k that's without even trying.)

Well yeah but that's a question of time, some of us are working on a daily basis. My garrison is complete so I won't have to spend gold on buildings. But lets wait and see. I'm just glad that I finally got myself a token.
I work on a daily basis.
It's more about managing the time you have than having a lot of time to sink into the game.
If you are working full time, why would you invest what playing time you do have into grinding gold for a token. Is $15 a month going to break the bank? It just seems more stress than it's worth busting your hump in the game just for a one month sub.
I don't presume to know your situation, but you've never really said why you need to do this.
Anyways, like I, and others have said, alts will bring in a lot more gold. Choose a monk, the xp boost from your daily makes leveling super fast.
Play smart, grab xp boosts such as the Darkmoon faire stuff. The accelerated learning pots, Elixir of the rapid mind.
Even if you only play an hour a day on an alt, fill your quest log, use whatever xp boosts you have and turn everything in.

Well that's besides the point but its mostly for principle reasons, as I was never a big fan of paying for monthly subscriptions, I believe that we pay enough for the expansions already. I was also getting tired of always being out of gold, so the knowledge in terms of farming gold is going to be valueable regardless.

That's an argument for another time, I think WoW offers the best value for money of any gaming experience hands down. Even more so now that time can be bought with easily acquired in game currency. But I'm very happy for Blizzard to take my money every month compared to what it would cost me to buy a triple A game that I'd complete within a few days, weeks at most.
I was also getting tired of always being out of gold, so the knowledge in terms of farming gold is going to be valueable regardless
Where in the world are you that the token cost 72k? The US realms have been 35-40k for quite a while now as far as I can recall.
Not that it matters, I used to play on the EU realms a while ago, the economy works exactly the same except the prices are inflated on the EU realms compared to the NA realms, so I'm assuming at such a high token cost you are not on the NA client?
Anyway I digress. The tips will certainly help you if you follow them. Don't underestimate how much you can make with alts, even if you only level them to a point where they can solo BC raids you will be able to do weekly pet runs and can potentially earn a lot of gold from selling them.

Could someone do me a big favor and check to see how many days there are left before the raids (including legacy raids) resets? I'm going to use my token soon so I thought I wanted to complete some of the legacy raids that I missed when my subscription ran out, before they reset again.

The same day they always do, Tuesday for US and Wednesday for EU, every week.

I was thinking about what time specifically, but I found out that its precisely 3:00 AM here in europe. I have about 60k gold after I subscribed again, and the token costs 80k gold currently, so its possible to obtain enough gold for a token with only one character. I also finally had the trader who sells blacksmithing recipes visiting my garrison, so I made two truesteel essences that currently sells for about 5,000 gold, so it will be interesting to see if someone buys them.
Oh boy... they changed the game completely... and I was just about to complete my 24 followers with maximum level gear all with treasure hunting traits..

So I have about 25 followers with extreme scavenger.. anyone figured out a good use of garisson resources? i have 10k garrison resources currently ... also is the gem boutique still worth it since the missions only gives about 200 garrison resources?

Find out which trader it is for the day, buy the materials, turn in for primal spirits, turn in Spirits for Savage Blood and then buy the Blood bag off the Trading post trader because that bag still gives 50 gold.
