To be fair that was cenarius. And that was becouse he could feel the demonic taint in them and assumed they where agents of the legion.Actually, the Night Elf scouts attacked way before Cenarius showed up.

Despite no longer having warlocks in their ranks, the orcs of Thrall's Horde still carried within them the unmistakable mark of the Burning Legion upon their very souls up until the moment that Grom Hellscream defeated Mannoroth. Cenarius, as a being so attuned to nature that he can sense the slightest corruption, assumed that the orcs in Ashenvale were scouts of the Legion. This, ironically, sent the Warsong clan back into the service of Mannoroth
From Ask Cdev round 3.
I do belive Cenarius sent those scouts.

Night Elf Huntress: You were right, sisters. These green-skinned brutes have no respect for life. Slay them in Elune's name!

Yes i did play warcraft 3. And it is possible Cenarius sent them down there to scout. If anything it might have been retconed. Like thunder ridge is now south of ogrimmar when it was north in WC3. And ogrimmar was in the middle of durotar. Not on the border of Azhara, who used Ashenvale geotype in WC3 and had night elven villages that was burned by Illidan and his minions.

It hasn't been retconned, that answer from the CDev was regarding Cenarius, explaining why HE attacked the orcs. It didn't say anything at all about the initial scouts.

It is possible they where ordered by cenarius. How much do we know the cenarius sensor range?
Still odd for a scout to engage the enemy. Scouts are supposed to scout.

Offer some proof that it was retconned or don't discuss it with me.

There are Night Elf scouts; attack first, ask questions later is their standard operation for how they react to things.

Returning to the original point of this thread, should there be a Forsaken and living heir to a particular property, who has the greater claim in your opinion?

Depends on the property. I don't think anyone disputes the Forsaken's claim to northern Lordaeron, but anything outside that border should, imo, go to the living.

So what do you think of Silverpine, Hillsbrad and Andorhal?

The living since they'll actually use it for something rather then just staring at it like a Forsaken would.

Silverpine is the Forsaken's. Hillsbrad should remain in the hands of the Alliance, as Southshore pledged itself to Stormwind after Lordaeron fell
Andorhol should, imo, remain under the watch of the Argent Crusade, but that's neither here nor there.

I still think they could compromise, the forsaken don't even live in upper lordaeron, they live in the sewers. They could split 50/50, with the living in the surface and the forsaken below ground. They hate the sunlight and the grass and everything anyways.

Yeah but I wouldn't want to live in any type of location where the Forsaken are; whether they are underground or not, since that would just be unsanitary with living corpses all around.

Not to mention all of the people would be scared silly that the undead were going to come up and kill them all.
I can see it now; "Kids, go to sleep or the zombies in the sewers will come up from under your beds and kill you!"

Pretty sure the forsaken use it as a testing grounds for their blight and other horrid crimes against everything good and sane.
