Is Mistweaver a viable leveling spec?

I love playing healing classes, which is why Priest is my favorite class, since Discipline is a pretty solid leveling spec while still being able to keep the party alive. But, obviously, not all healing specs are good at leveling (or, they are good as a leveling spec, it just takes much longer.)
My question is: Is the Mistweaver spec good for soloing/leveling? I notice that a large part of it is "the more (auto-attack) damage you do, the more you heal", which is really handy in dungeons and such, but is it a viable leveling spec? Windwalker is obviously better, being a DPS spec, but it can't heal nearly as well.

It's good, not great. DPriest is way better that way, IMO.
Attack power scales pretty well with intellect for mistweavers, and you do get to keep the
Stance of the Fierce Tiger
, which is the DPSing stance, along with
, the healing stance.
I have more attack power in my 475 MW spec then I do in my 487 WW spec. However, since you don't have the specialized abilities from WW and the weapon damage of your healing weapon probably won't be that great, you won't do as much damage as a MW as you would do as WW, not even close.
It's also worth noting that most MW healing abilities require
, so you'll have to keep switching stances to heal yourself while questing or soloing.
Expel Harm
is a pretty decent self-heal, with a relatively short CD.
Zen Pulse
is a very useful tier-2 talent, and the three tier-5 talents help with survivability.
Fortifying Brew
is an ability all specs have, and helps a lot in emergencies, specially paired with
Healing Elixir
.
In short, I would keep the WW spec for questing/soloing and the MW just for healing.
Hope this helps =)

Honestly, I don't find Windwalker all that viable for leveling either; I'd rather just go Brew for times when I have to be out and about in the world...but then again, I like to pull lots and lots of mobs lol.

brewmaster >windwalker > Mistweaver in speed
I just suggest get duel spec and use windwalker or brewmaster
WoW is pretty much dumbed down to the point you don't need healing as long it is not a elite/rare or pulling many, but if you pull many I say go brewmaster as shuffle + guard is just to sexy

I have no problem killing mobs at a decent speed with my mw at 89.. I didn't level to 89 in mistweaver spec but its seems fine to me... I've killed mobs as fast as a dps spec questing next to me. That said it does that practice, u need to make every melee hit use muscle memory, i also have jade lightning glyph'd so it does extra damage after knock back, I use that allot... Not a problem with mana once you get a good sequence going. I enjoy questing as mistweaver. If you pull a group it's better to do two spinning cranes then a blackout kick, its a aoe for mw, do that till only two left and then do single target dps.

I leveled a monk to 90 with only Mistweaving.
I had such an easy way... especially when you get spinning crane kick, it became even more easy.
But, once I reach level 80-85, it started to get harder and I kinda regretted only having int gears, once I did reach level 90, I thought about switching spec, but had no agi gears and just forgot about it.
I'm making a new one and going Tank/DPS this time. So far it's pretty easy too.

It may not be great but it's good enough (at least with looms, other BoA gear, all the XP perks and stuff). Used lightning for a while after getting it (knockback is fun), got too slow somewhere in Pandaria, returned to hitting things. Most fun I've had leveling a toon to 90. (Also, stuns, slows, disarms... <3)

I tried leveling as mistweaver a while back, and though I did lots of damage and self-healing while leveling, I found my self with more down-time cause I wasn't spending enough chi to make tea, and the mana you regen by using tiger palm/blackout kick is less than the amount you spend on jabs.
In my opinion Brewmaster is by far the best leveling spec. All you need to do is pick up kill quests, round up as much mobs as the quest requires, then tank them to death. I tried leveling as mistweaver a while back, and though I did lots of damage and self-healing while leveling, I found my self with more down-time cause I wasn't spending enough chi to make tea, and the mana you regen by using tiger palm/blackout kick is less than the amount you spend on jabs. Windwalker is great past 56, but kind of slow before it. To be honest, I didn't enjoy leveling as WW mainly cause you may burn things faster, but leveling as BM allows you to easily tag and kill several mobs all at the same time.
