I am tired of the drama that happens on my server..pug raids that can't down the first 3 bosses of MsV, no rated BG groups, no decent arena players, only 4 guilds that are actually doing progression runs in current content, etcetera etcetera etcetera. I recently moved my paladin to a different server and faction changed him to horde. ( Started off horde 6 years ago and changed to ally to play with RL coworkers.) I love the new server. Pugs doing full clears, rated BGs constantly in trade, very skilled arena players, and a stable AH economy.
So, long story short, I have the following classes with maxed professions...should i sell everything off of them except my shaman, send him the gold, mats, etc. Delete the toons, and do a paid transfer/faction change on my shaman to where my horde paladin is, or just say screw it and start from scratch on all my professions on the horde server? I would transfer everything, but that would end up being close to $600 just to not have to worry about releveling 7 toons and professions.
Horde
90 Paladin - Miner/JC
Alliance
90 Shaman - Skinner/BS
85 Warlock - Herber/Alchemist
85 Rogue - Miner/Engineer
85 Priest - Tailoring/Inscription
4 other various mid level toons and a bank alt with 6 tab guild bank.
TL/DR: Should i delete 8 toons and start over on a new server after transfering one, or just start over and keep my toons as backups?

I'd start over but keep those around, just in case.

Was thinking about it, I love to play my shaman however. He was my first toon in WoW, and my achievement @#$%^ toon. I have spent so much time playing him, I can't rationalize leaving him to grow old alone.

Well to be fair, a large number of the achievements are going to migrate with him.
I don't know, I've regularly just given up and started over on new servers; gold is so simple to make now a days, and with a DK as the holder toon, you'll be back up and in your prime in no time. However, what you could do is scout around and find a good new server for yourself, give it some time, then if you do end up happy there, just transfer the shaman at that point.

Nobody can really answer this question for you. It depends on how highly you value your time and how much money you have.
Really looking for opinions on what everyone else would do. I enjoy the end game content, but I also enjoy leveling. Money isn't really a big deal. Got several prepaid visa giftcards for Christmas and my birthday. I have pretty much decided that I want my shaman xfered over, just trying to decide if I should take any of the others.

Also, one last tip: Never, ever, look at your account's character transfer history. If you start adding up how much you've spent on this game retroactively it'll make you sick.
I agree. This will be the 2nd paid move for me. The first time however, it was just my shaman as he was the only character I had that I was attached too. The rest didn't have anything worth keeping or professions that were a pain to level back to max. And it was $55 a pop for me. Faction change and realm transfer. Just on the 2 characters I have moved so far between the 2 times, it has been $110 not counting all the pets, mounts, game time, expansions. This habit is expensive sometimes LOL

Transfer your main with *most* of your gold/mats/etc. but don't everything -- leave the other characters in 1-2 sets of gear and some pocket change. Start leveling new alts on the destination server when you're not playing the main. Leveling is astoundingly easy these days, especially on a class you're familiar with. This is what I did when I switched servers last year. I rolled a DK on the new server, remade most of my alts, then when I was sure I was happy there I transfered my former main over with most of my money and all the items I could fit.
Leveling is fast and easy, professions are fairly quick, and many achievements are shared. Unless you have recipes which can't be gotten in game any more, or are really attached to some achievements, then I don't consider the cost worth it to transfer, especially this early in an expansion.

The most fun I have had in WoW in a long time, was starting over from scratch on a new server. No gold. No heirlooms. No guild.
This was mid-may through Firelands, and it took me about 3 weeks to have a raid-capable toon. I also managed to get a spot in one of the top guilds on my server through some persistence. I finally ended up transferring 1 toon to my new server, and that was only because I still have the first toon I ever rolled in the game on launch day.
I would not suggest deleting your other toons though. There is no real need to do so, and you never know. I still log into some of my old characters, just to check on them.
