Leveling and changing to Holy

Hey guys,
I would like to play a healer in MoP and because my guild could need a tank-healer I decided to play my level 85 Paladin to level 90.
I can't reach level 90 by healing in dungeons alone so I want to do quests. But I think it is impossible to do quests with a holy spec or heal-equipment.
When can I start to collect heal-gear?
Do I get a heal-item for every slot from Dread Wastes quests alone? Is it even possible to get heal-gear if I play as Retribution-Paladin?
Thx in advance.

Depends on your plan. Its best to start as soon as you got proper slot in your dps gear or its an extra not a tradeoff.

I guess so
Only one
weapon
though. You can however get a blue 450 ilvl weapon from
The Arena of Annihilation
scenario quest (just make sure you are holy before turning it, no reason not to queque as holy either, unless you have no gear yet).

1. If you stay in retri spec you will only get retri gear. You can however complete the quests in retri spec and switch spec to holy before you Turn in - thats should give you a healing prize. Only exception are the ultra badly itemised trinkets (which basically have only secondary stats).
2. You can Need for offspec in dungeons (provided that is no holydin present who needs Ms).
3. There is crafted BS 450 ilvl gear (both
pvp and pve
) and
couple of JP 458 pieces.
.
The 3rd option should be best to gear up fast when dinged 90, without a need to gather holy gear before. With the
The Arena of Annihilation
mace and
Masterwork Lightsteel Shield
.

From my experience, you can lvl as holy. I did it to lvl 90 by a mix of quests, bgs, and dungeons. The quests will seem hard at first, but you quickly get gear that has more intellect and thus do more damage. I mainly spammed denounce and when they were nearly dead, finish with a holy shock and hammer of wrath.
It isn't as efficient as Ret, but u will get holy gear. It also helped in bgs and dungeons - healers tend to win more bgs and faster queue times for dungeons.

Ofc you can. But it will take much much longer. As there is really not a big variance of them and they dont give much exp for clearing either (even on high +exp bonuses resulting from rest, guild bonuses, heirlooms, RaF etc). So going healer just to be able to queue faster is kinda moot. Just do them once or twice, complete the quests giving you blue stuff, get a good weapon from one of the bosses and you are fine to quest.
Same with questing. DPS spec alone (without proper gear even) kills way faster than any healer could.

Pro tip: Heirlooms stop giving exp bonus, when you outgrow their level.
And they are inferior (greatly inferior) to the items of the next expansion to their max level. (I.e. heirloom weapon is like 20% worse than level 80 Cata blues.)

Werent they supposed to increase max level of all heirlooms?

Max level of heirlooms comes in 5.2 (or later) but won't apply to already bought heirlooms from what I've read so far.
