Play each a bit and see what you prefer. You will do more dps on a class you enjoy instead of others that you feel 'meh' about

This. Different people like playing different things.
I like my prot warrior, but I hate DPSing.
I like my resto drood, but I hate DPSing.
I like my demo lock, but I don't like mages.
I don't like playing my hunter, but I like collecting pets.
Sure, one class might punch out the higher numbers than the other, but it's all dependable if you can play the class or not.

Your DPS will be based on your ability and other relevant factors.
Some class can put out enormous DPS, but you really need everything in place to make those numbers happen.
For example I've seen two comparably gear, same spec hunters in LFR , where one was putting out 30% less dps.
It was a matter of rotation, timing, cooldown usage, UI set up...etc.
So for instance a fury warrior may put out less then a warlock, but you may put up better numbers with a fury warrior then if you rolled a warlock.
So just don't look at numbers...look at what it takes to produce those numbers.
Then combined with your relative skills you get the optimum match.
The choices you have posted at this moment are all good...barring any future nerf.

Still having trouble picking a class to play.. DPS class. I'm basically going for the best possible damage possible.
From what I can understand from the charts -- Affliction Warlock, Arcane Mage, and Fury Warrior are usually on top? What are your opinions' on these?
Affliction Warlock--
Arcane Mage--
Fury Warrior--
Any other?--
Survivability is what matters most to me.
My arcane mage rocks. He's taken on 6-8 elites several levels above him and handily lived to tell the tale. Same deal with my dotty Affliction lock.
I can't say with the fury warrior as mine is a protection warr and really low level but also cleans clock...just very slowly..
My all time fave for surviving and dps is my MM/BM hunter.

Guys, I'm having trouble picking my first car. I'd like your opinions on these:
- GMC Sierra
- Toyota Prius
- Scion xB
- Ford GT40
I know I want four seats and at least 10 mpg fuel efficiency. I haven't been to a dealer yet to ask about prices but I think they all have a similar lease payment. What one is the best for me?
SUBARU!

Don't pick your class based on which spec is the current flavour-of-the-month, or you will just be disappointed when they rebalance things a few weeks or months down the line.
All the specs are at least viable, my advice would be to pick the one you actually enjoy playing, and not worry too much about the numbers.

Ugh, this thread again... It really bugs me how everyone always answers these kinds of questions with the same scripted, milquetoast, largely useless knee-jerk answer. Sure, tell them not to worry about FOTM or DPS charts and focus on what they want to play, but for heavens sake try to help them figure out what that is. You're not helping the OP with a half-dozen or more replies saying basically the same thing.

But if you'd actually paid attention to what he's saying (not just in the OP but in the rest of the thread; c'mon it's only 9 posts so far), you'd see he understands that. He's looking for detailed descriptions of the playstyle and mechanics of the three classes to help him figure out which is something he'd enjoy more.
Which is a perfectly reasonable question to ask. As someone who's never gotten a character higher than 60, I'm under no illusions about my lack of understanding of what classes at end-game are like, but having said that, the feel of a character during 1-20 is very different from that same character 50+ in my experience, and leveling multiple alts up over 20 just to see which might be worth taking to 90 is not for everyone.
Reckya
, I wish I could help you out more, but I don't have any characters with those specs past the 'teens, so I don't know the answer. My advice though would be to decide whether you're more interested in PVP or PVE (sounds like the latter from your interest in charts), then look up current guides aimed for that play-style to get a sense of what it might be like. Good sites for PVE would be Elitist Jerks (focus on the priority lists and/or rotation sections) and Icy Veins (has very good beginner's guides for how to play a spec), for instance. There's another called Noxxic, as well, but I'm not sure on the name.

Paladins and monks can be tanks, melee DPS and heals, but cannot fill the role of ranged DPS which a druid can do as well as the other 3.

These are valid questions you should be asking
:
What kinda play style you prefer (class) / that you would like to play.
Difficulty of for getting maximum / The best DPS possible.
What kinda content do you intend to do? ... pve - pvp, since this will effect damage out-put of
What's your skill level / ability to play this game at?, since this will effect your damage the most.
Other things that effect getting top damage
...some classes will be so simple to play & you can play rather bad & get good results on dps, while other classes will need a higher skill level of play, in order to get anywhere near the same results.
Some classes can gain higher dps over another, depending on item level of gear used, since gear scales better with item level, for some classes over another.
This also works the other way around, some classes can out-dps another class, that is meant to be the best dps class for current content / patch.. since they don't need high item level gear to get good dps. While the other class might need higher item level of gear to get similar results.

^pretty much what he said.
You should determine what playstyle you like most...fury warriors vs mages, for example, have nearly polar opposite playstyles. If you enjoy fury warriors more but go arcane mage because it has "slightly" higher dps potential, the game won't be nearly as fun for you later on.
The game turns into a gear grind at max level...if you hate the playstyle, it's going to get really old, really fast. If you like it, it makes "
the grind
" much more bearable.
I've played a feral druid since the game was released years ago, because I love the playstyle. Good burst for PvP, good sustainable damage through bleeds for PvP and PvE, good survivability, some of the best mobility in the game...it's very well-rounded. I'm typically competitive when it comes to dps, though not always on top of the boards.
And I'm ok with that.
Find a character whose style and aesthetics you like, and the game will be more fun in the long run, regardless everything else.
