I'm level 75, and I've tanked most/all the BC+ instances either super geared or in LFD "rush" runs. I think I do okay, most people don't complain about speed or about my ability to hold aggro. I'm afraid this has more to do with the quality of LFD tanks, or because we're all just leveling - and I'd like to make sure I'm "knowing my role".
I read the forums, and I've checked other profiles - but would you mind looking through my character and seeing what I'm immediately missing? I know I'm not enchanted, but that is mainly due to constantly upgrading gear.
Opener:
Battle Shout
(for rage if needed)
Charge
Rotation:
Thunder Clap
Cleave
Shield Slam
Revenge
(a few times, cycling targets for rage)
Devastate
Shockwave
One-Offs -
I try to keep these up or I hit them when they proc:
Victory Rush
And I use
as my rage dump, specially on singe-mob end fights
I don't think I'm BAD, but I know I can be better - any critique?

Thanks for the response Merberan - yeah, the sheild was +2600 armor from what I had. The Intellect just makes me a smart tank. ;)
I really do need to shield block more. I remember it, but not as much as I should. I think I need to buckle down and reads up on good UI placement/etc.

Dont rage dump with heroic strike - use
Shield Block
and little later on the barrier (at 81). Heroic strike can and should be used on the Ultimatum proc (from shield slam) and maybe with deadly calm, but unless you glyph it, it aint free even than.
As for prio list, your rage generating and rage dumping abilities should be prio over everything else.
So shield slam > Revenge > devastate > thunder clap (to keep up the debuff on single and on cd for multi). Rage dumping abilities are off gcd.
This guide explains it more thoroughly:

Skills that we use are only part of the role, other important parts are situational awareness and proper positioning.
May want to watch these two:
1.
Positioning
2.
Awareness
.
Other important things are knowledge of the boss/instance mechanics/overall class mechanics and ability to communicate with your party/raid/offtank.

Thank you very much for the pointers - I never thought about using
Shield Block
as a rage dump... I always looked at it as a "OH SNAP!" spell. :)
My positioning is good, but I definitely need to work on Awareness... I'll check those videos and make sure I'm doing what I should be.

What everyone else said. My only tip is to make sure you devastate before you thunder clap. Devastate puts the bleed on your target and thunder clap spreads it to everyone else. Having a dot up really helps maintain aggro when you'd be struggling otherwise. Icy veins is good, and also make sure you've read
http://www.noxxic.com/wow/pve/warrior/protection
.
Everything will change considerably once you hit 80 and mastery becomes your most important stat for critical blocks.

Thanks Reckish - I actually hit 81 (took some alt time) a few days ago and yea... I noticed my tank ability went out the window pretty darn fast.
I'm trying to get a little more gear before I attempt anymore tanking as I seem to fall down insanely quick with this pre-Cata gear. I've visited the AH and I think I'm going to respec Fury and get some quest rewards or just wait until 85 and buy some MoP greens to get back into the swing of things.

You dont have to respec. Just dual spec. Its 10g now.
As for gear, may want to search for
hardened obsidium
on AH.
Cata instances arent very hard gearwise, only require some careful pulling and positioning - sometimes even cc.
Lack in gear can be easily fixed by using cooldowns and shockwave as a defensive tool.

Oh - sorry... yeah, I meant dual spec. I was PROT/ARMS and now I'm PROT/FURY whilest I get better gear for questing.
I'll totally look up the hardened obsidium - that is a killer suggestion, thanks!

False.
Since 5.0, Thunder Clap now applies the bleed for Prot & Arms spec warriors via
Blood and Thunder
passive ability.
No need wasting your global cooldowns.

Devastate never put a bleed on your target anyway; Rend did, then you had to TC to spread it. Rend is moot now, because of Blood and Thunder, as Munkey stated.

If since MoP beta = never for you, than i guess we could agree.
