That came into my mind today. If there was a Healing class with a pet that heals also, how good of a healer would the pet be

Didn't shamans have totems that did this?

Resto druids treant's are now a healing "pet" on CD.
At best it would have to be a small heal, since it would be, in effect, a passive heal...much like a Healing Stream totem was. Druids, being "one with nature", and all, would be the obvious choice here. Maybe make the treants a permanent companion via glyph or talent?

while it sounds like a fun idea.
its not really a feasible thing to do, since the healer itself would do less healing. and in return they get a pet which heals they cant fully control, and if they would be able too fully control it. then the odds are its really difficult too manage both their own and pet heals at same time.
so i wouldnt want something like this implented to the game.
Not exactly.
Look at the current pets we have in the game. You can let them go ahead and do their thing, with similiar results and minimal input. Or, you can fully micro your pet for the absolute best results.
This sounds like an awesome idea to me, especially for the non-magical healer class that I really want put in the game.
Perhaps some sort of combat medic with a surgery robot? Or, if the player doesn't want to be as tech-feeling, they can just have a medical assistant?

BM should be a healer role, clearly.

Quillen give me a battle res. I could see having the ability to off heal some with effective bandages or a special pet lol.

sounds like a really cool idea. Here's something that would make it even cooler.
Have the player set up a 'script' of sorts that the pet/minion/slave/assistant would follow during a fight.
for instance:
1. Target the most injured player
2. If health < 50%: Cast 'Heal'
3. Otherwise If health < 80%: Cast 'Renew'
4. If under attack : /yell 'halp, i'm being eaten!', cast 'fade'
the player could set up a series of 'behaviors' that could be switched between by using macros - keybinds, for instance "aggressive healing", "healspam", "aggro manager", etc. during combat.
this could extend to other types of pets too, like a standard hunter pet. Instead of micromanaging the pet, it has a predefined (by the player) behavior in every fight.
of course, this could create something of a 'bot' in arena matches and such, making pet classes insanely difficult to beat.

I have two words for you guys: Jewelcrafting Statues
Those were fun, interesting temporary immobile "pets" that would heal the user, but I think they've always been a bit underused. (Actually I think they counted as "guardians" rather than "pets")

They're underused because they only heal whoever sets them down, and so don't work for healing alongside a pet, and they don't even heal a lot at-level, and I don't think there are any high level ones.

Yeah, the JC guardians are only viable at lower lvls.

I think this is one of those things that sounds cool, but then, in practice you'd get the same 'problem' a lot of rogues have now; the large amount of passive healing (or damage in the case of rogues) would make you feel cumbersome and weak compared to other healers regardless of where you rank on performance.

What got me was that back in BC, my JCer was a Warlock...and the statues were on a shared cooldown with the Healthstone. Naturally, I went with the Healthstone pretty much every time. xD

Maybe a mini-paladin type of healing pet? Do you remember your prot pallys back in TBC? When they wherent tanking, they where healing in mismatched leftover pieces of all armor types. A green dress, yellow cloak, purple hat, swirling glowing shoulders, a lightsabre. Spamming one single target spell over and over and over.
Maybe add a mini-paladin-squire-tbc-homage to some class, doesnt have to be a healing class.
