Questing as Holy/Disc is Frustrating

A Healers Required Sacrifice
With the release of Mist of Pandaria, everyone soon came to realize that a lot of the good gear, recipes, and mounts are obtained through grinding daily quests. In order to get the awesome items in-game the player is required to complete these quests (with the Golden Lotus first and foremost), but what happens when a player absolutely stinks at questing?
I have chosen to be a pure healer, with Holy for the Raids and Discipline for Dungeons. And let's be honest, even if I did re-spec one of these (which I would be weary to do) the DPS would hardly be competitive enough to compare to other DPS specs. The only way that I can quest now is in my Discipline spec for the enormous amounts of survivability, but the daily quests take WAY too long to complete. With recount recording my DPS while questing, I only reach into the 20k in the most intensive fights.... and I remember easily being able to pull out 20k on my Mage in Cataclysm.
Does anyone else find it depressing when a DPS Class runs by and kills a mob in seconds.... the same mob that took you a minute or more to slowly bring down? I am not sure about everyone else, but I don't feel like Priests, or healers in general, should be penalized for choosing to be a healer.
Daily Quests = Gear, Recipes, Mounts;
Mist of Pandaria = TONS of Daily Quests;
Healer = Low DPS;
Low DPS = Very Slow Questing;
Slow Questing = Longer to Obtain Gear, Recipes, and Mounts

I can't exactly say too much, as I've not quested often as a Disc priest; I've only gone through dungeons to level her up, but I will say I agree with the above. You can always go shadow to get the items you want and such.
Before Disc priests were nerfed, I was constantly the highest on the DPS chart in dungeons, and I was the healer keeping everyone alive while also pulling 10-15 mobs at a time. My boyfriend tanked the whole time and he gave up trying to, because I would end up downing the mobs too fast for it to be worth him taking aggro.
But seeing as Disc priests are...
healers
...I don't see why we would need to do that much damage. It's easy to complain, but it's also easy to find someone to do the dailies with, which would make things go faster.

Shadow has fairly obscene self healing between
Power Word: Shield
,
Charred Glyph
,
Charred Glyph
and the new
Vampiric Embrace
so downtime actually isn't an issue. You'll probably have more downtime questing as a healer because shadow is designed to have endless mana under normal conditions (via
) whereas the healer specs are not.

I agree, yes.
I went from being able to take out any Cataclysm quest that was thrown at me with a relatively good clip (once I managed to get Cataclysm-level gear that is) to taking roughly ten to twenty seconds to down any given mob.
First world problems, I know.
Even so, it's just... odd... at how MoP feels substantially more difficult than all the other expansions so far.
Granted I can't recall with perfect clarity my experiences with the others at launch.

Well, Shadow wasn't even a pure DPS spec, but a mana battery, so even our "DPS" spec was incredibly slower than any other given class at killing same quest monsters... And we had no Shadow AoE. Our only burst damage came from Mind Blast, since Mind Flay couldn't crit, Devouring Plague was undead only and had no instant component, and haste didn't affect DoTs - which couldn't crit either. This, during Burning Crusade.
Or during Wrath, where even with all the enhancements Priests levelling Shadow had to suffer through drinking every 2-3mobs, and Mind Flay pre-lvl46 rank did such pitiful damage that you were sleeping between Mind Blast cooldowns for huge burst, sitting behind your PW:S because the 3 Mind Flay full channels you did between Mind Blast cooldowns couldn't finish a mob even if all critted (which just did not happen)... where the best levelling path actually didn't even include our DPS spec, because Disc's Energizer spec was far superior.
I haven't played Mists, but I heavilly doubt it's nearly as bad as it's being portrayed. I cannot comment on Vanilla, since I haven't played than - than again, vanilla isn't an expansion per se.
And I personally can't see how this is such a huge deal. If it's that horrendous, just re-spec. If you say it's so much faster to complete dailies, than surelly the money spent on a re-spec will be recovered in time, because you take way less time to finish said quests. I'd also love a tri - hell, even quadri - spec to cover PvP and PvE specs, but Dual should already cover you far better than what used to happen.
If you "force" yourself into a healer spec, it's your choice, but think of what you're asking. How impactful would it be if a healer could output the level of burst DPS of a pure DPS for PvP, for example? And to what end? To fix the "issue" of healers being too slow questing? Isn't that incredibly feeble?

Sort of off topic, but has the switchover from disc to shadow changed with regards to efficiency? I remember finding shadow better around level 72 lol.

Who mentioned "shadow" and "downtime" in the same sentence? O.o Was never ever an issue since Wrath.

Wasn't really even an issue then, spec Spirit Tap and you were fine for questing. It was just slow until 50 when you got Vampiric Touch.

"being to change your spec instantly at a class trainer"
You can change your spec in 5 seconds anywhere with dualspec.
Now I can see the reason for a heal/heal setup if you are a raider or a pvp'er or both, however, all healing specs (for all classes) got more damage output with 5.0 than they had previously, so they are viable for doing your dailies etc, just slower (but they hardly ever die).
