Good afternoon. I received the folowing e-mail from Wowhead:
Greetings!
It has come to our attention that your Wowhead Account account has been accessed by unauthorized IP address. If you believe your Wowhead Account account has been accessed by someone else without your permission, immediately change your password.
You can confirm that you are the original owner of the account to this website with:
<link1>
If the above link does not work for you, follow the instructions below:
1. Go to Wowhead manual activation page @ <link2>
2. Enter your Login ID, Activation Code and Password in activation page, then click on confirm.
Thank you.
- Wowhead Management
The site from link1 is wowhead.svfree.net, which raised suspicions on my part. This was not filtered to spam on Hotmail, but I'd like to request confirmation beforehand.

I'm not an administrator or anyone in-the-know, but that seems like an obvious scam mail considering the weird link and the poor English.
I wouldn't click on anything (I'm sure you weren't planning on doing so but still) and wait for 100% confirmation from a Wowhead Staff member before blocking/deleting.

Confirming an IP via an email sounds phishy, yes :P
So now even Wowhead accounts get phishing emails? What's there to gain, except maybe an account with Premium? (yay, no ads while surfing) Registering an account is free, so it's not like the spammers need phished accounts.

That's the thing, it's actually pretty well done. The english isn't that poor, and though I can say it is scammed now (I checked Hotmail. It is from a random mail disguised as Wowhead), it was pretty well done, and ONLY hotmail allowed me to check; I have all my mails redirected to GMail, and the sender was only identified as feedback@wowhead.com there.
At this point, even without Wowhead confirmation, I believe it's a scam, from checking Hotmail's original sender, so I'm alerting everyone to it - do NOT insert any of your account info there.

This is, with little doubt on my part, a phishing email.
If anyone sent you an email from feedback it would include the name of the individual sending it.
I am also presently unaware of any emails like this even being sent on our part.

I just posted another topic regarding this. I guess I didn't both to check to see if anyone else has gotten that.
I replied to the email to see where it would send it to, and it put the "feedback@wowhead.com" in the address bar. That's why I was really wondering.

That unfortunately is very easy to do :( You can spoof any email.
But yeah, we will never have you click on links unless you REQUEST a password reset. Hopefully that clears things up a bit.

Sure does, Ashelia. But now it has me thinking, how did they get my email and how did they know it was the one I used for Wowhead? o_O

That is not a spam email, that's if you participated in our survey contest (which you may have done and not realized). :)
