Best profession for a shaman?

I have a goblin shaman and I'm wondering what would be the "best" (if such a word can be used) profession to be. Now, you're probably saying "Alchemy, duh! Goblins have that racial boost to alchemy!" While I do want Herbalism as one of my professions, I'm not sure if alchemy would be the best fit for a shaman. Or maybe it is. I don't know.
What do you think?

Well it doesn't matter that much and really depends on you preferences :) But if I had goblin shammy I would definitely go for Alchemy and Herbalism. Herbalism will give you haste perk which I believe all shamans love. And Alchemy correlates really nicely with shamans using elemental magic (fire, water, earth, air). Moreover Alchemy should be really fun in MoP :)

for leveling: Herbalism and skinning.
end game: herbalism and ; skinning or alchemy

Engineer/JC or JC/BS imo are the best combos
Engineer gets +stat glove enchants and belt tinkers and parachutes and !@#$%^s and thanks to blizz who changed it to cost a vendor bought item to do a tinker and bombs to blow *!@# up and all the nifty gadgets like repair bots, mailboxes, and blingtron
JewelCrafter gets the best gems, perfect cut green gems with same stats as blues and serpent eyes which is like 2 gems in 1, 320 stat vs 160
BlackSmith doesn't give you much besides coveted extra sockets for practically free (its like 2 flux @ 4 silver) and a weapon you'll replace in heroics or early raiding
LW isnt bad either you can make gear
But in the end all the profs give virtually the same amount bonus stats, its just do you want extra haste, crit, intellect, agi, ect. and do you want to buy/beg potions, flasks, gems, or enchants off people. I took Engineer and Jewelcrafting, I hate paying for gems I can cut myself, and I like the toys and jeeves/molle
Also the goblin bonus to alch is nice but at max lvl it doesnt give you anything extra. Im a 610 JC because im a draenei and you know that orc can cut the same gems as me. I think the only racial that ever helped out profs was gnome and engineer because the trinket summoned a dragon whos lvl and dmg was based on your engineer skill lvl

I'm Alchemy/Herbalism and it's incredibly fun to make your own potions, flasks and elixirs that have increased benefits and last twice as long. It also saves a ton of money and worrying during raids due to their increased duration.
Furthermore, you get the
Alchemist's Flask
and
Zen Alchemist Stone
. The former increases your intellect or agility by 320 (the tooltip is wrong), but counts as a flask (but you don't lose it on use). The latter is just a decent trinket that increases the effect of mana potions on you by 40%. Useful, especially if you're Resto--you might find you'll have mana issues in the long run. But it'll be replaced rather quickly with a better heroic trinket.
The effect of
Mixology
on the use of flasks is a +320 bonus to intellect or agility, and it doubles their duration.
Herbalism's
is an incredibly nice boost to DPS and healing throughput. But it costs you a global cooldown, so I'm not entirely sure it's useful for panicky situations as Resto. As Elemental, though, it's perfect for burn phases. I'm not too impressed by the healing part, however.
My ideal combination would be Enchanting and Alchemy. Cheap enchants on my rings and a permanent mini-flask that never runs out: perfect!

The common understanding is that while all professions provide perks, the crafting profs are superior to the gathering ones in terms of the total # of stat points provided (they also are more flexible) and provide main stats, not secondaries.
excellent summary on MMO Champion:
http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1170277-MoP-Profession-Bonuses
Among the craftings:
Leatherworking: bracer upgrades (int, agi) give a net +330 over other available non-profession options. May well be the best choice for Enh and Ele, sub-par for Resto with no spirit.
Tailoring and Engineering perks give big boosts to Agi or Int - tailoring's cloak enchants are a proc / engineering's Agi or Int are on-use. Average out to +320 over non-profession options. Tailoring has a spirit option as well, so it's likely better for Resto, while Enh or Ele benefit equally.
Inscription: shoulder-enchants are net +320 Int of Agi. No spirit for Resto. The only other benefit you get is making/saving $ on glyphs or staff/offhands you create. Overall: Good for Ele/Enh but sub-par for Resto with no spirit
Enchanting: Aside from saving/making huge $ from the enchants you make for yourself, the ring enchants (if you do both rings) total 320 Agi or 320 Int. Great for Enh and Ele, sub-par for Resto with no spirit
Alchemy: Alchemist stone is nice, but has the potential to be out-leveled by higher-end trinkets. Mixology gives increased effect from flasks, so as long as you're using flasks it's 320 agi, 320 int, or 480 spirit from MOP flasks. Very useful as a guild/raid profession. Good for Ele/Enh, and very good option for Resto, as you also get more mana from potions if you're using Alchemist stone.
Blacksmithing: extra sockets mean extra gems if you buy the best available +320 Agi or Int, +480 Spirit. Best option for Resto (if you need spirit), Good for Ele/Enh. Downside is unlike LW or Tailor/Engi/Insc/Ench you have to buy the gems which costs $. Every time you get new gear = $$, and you don't make much useful for Shaman (plate). Very flexible with sockets, but most Shaman wouldn't take BS in the first place.
Jewelcrafting: if you use 2 Serpent's Eye gems, and assume you had full top-end gems in all slots available, it's +320 Agi/Int or +320 Spirit. Plus you make a killing selling the gems you cut on AH. Great for Ele/Enh/Resto. Hard as hell to level.
IMO Enchanting is easiest to power-level so if you are ditching a gathering profession at high level that's the easiest one to catch up on.

True you can't craft anything different once you get to max with your bonused crafting profession, but:
A) Recipes stay orange for 15 extra points while leveling, meaning you can level more quickly and cost-efficient.
B) You save a couple thousand gold on all those
Golden Lotus
it takes to get the last 10-15 points of alchemy.
You'll still have to cough up some cash to get the alchemy specialization, but the goblin racial really does help with cost of leveling.
