1) No option to continue/resume downloading when I exit the game.
2) No option to pause downloading during play. HOORAY 2000 MS LAG DURING DARKMOON FAIRE WEEK!
3) Bugs, bugs, bugs! The updater completely barfed on me, forcing me to wipe and reinstall. Several times. The launcher also says I'm at 18% downloaded, but the game itself gives 81% (a more realistic number, seeing as how I have 3-4 GB left to go).
4) SO MUCH NAKED ORC ASS

You can help cut down on the lag issue by setting up QoS priority rules for the ports used by WoW. This means the the actual game bandwidth will receive higher priority than the background download, so you should no longer experience any lag above what you normally have while downloading.
To set up your router for QoS you need to have it enabled in windows (it is enabled by default) for the network adapter you are using and you need to set the rules up in your router.
Set these ports up on your router's QoS config, and choose "High" or "Highest" for priority for all but the downloading ports. If your router does not have this feature, I'd recommend getting something like a Netgear WNDR3700 which has a very fast internal processor (required for minimal lag).
1119-1120 TCP/UDP
3724 TCP/UDP
4000 TCP
6112-6114 TCP
6881-6999 TCP (Used by downloader; set priority to normal)
This is also a big help if you have multiple people using your connection at once, i.e. your bro or sis watching vids on youtube while you are playing a game...now they can watch vids and it won't mess with your latency.

Dump some latte on your keyboard- that'll fix it.

If you're using public wifi don't expect much in terms of connection quality regardless of what you do. The QoS stuff is for your home connection where you have access to your own router's settings.
