Relearning Your Class

I'm curious how you all feel about this...
I've been playing since early BC, and I know we're only on the third expansion since then, but that's three (or more) times I've had to relearn how to play each of my characters. It's just getting kinda old for me. It's honestly the only thing keeping me from buying another month and trying to get ready for MoP. What do you guys think? Is it annoying to have to keep learning how to play, or do you see the changes as new and exciting?

New and exciting and helping to stream line the uselessness.
Really though, it's more or less still the same rotation wise.

Honestly, my main is a resto druid. I made a second account and created another resto druid after the patch, It is ten times easier to heal at lower levels now than it was before. You get some of your main spells earlier and at 85 from before to after not much has really changed.

Well sometimes it`s good for a radical change, and the relearning of your class makes it a challenge.
Personally i really enjoy playing and relearning my new class. But this depends on the player as well.
The basics are the same , but a bit of change is welcome anytime.

I think this is one of the better makeovers I've come across. I always get that tired feeling inside me when a patch like 5.0.4 rolls around, but this one has actually been nice. It seems there are as many simplifications as there are complications, so all in all nothing to sneeze at.
Well, my balance druid's lost a DoT, which annoys the four-letter-word out of me, and I have to get a
glyph
if I want my rogue to restealth as quickly as I'm used to. That's a whole major glyph for something that's basically a convenience.
But the rogue and my leveling feral druid play like two little dreams, and a stronger, more able tank for my affliction warlock is another nice thing (though I'm considering trying
without a demon around
).
Oh, and my warrior's not much changed, except it's actually nice they got rid of the whole abilities-only-work-in-certain-stances thing.
I haven't looked much yet at my priest, mage or paladin.

One of the things people don´t realize yet is how much the new talents (and some spells) are more about the new gameplay mechanisms in MOP. Playing level 85 content, a lot of stuff isn´t needed yet.. but when you start bumping into ´real´ rare elite spawns and start doing scenarios you will appreciate a lot of your talents and spells.
In a way, some of the stuff is a little like pvp, because you need to focus a little on cc and self-healing, at least more than you have ever done before while questing. I think when people get into MOP, they will appreciate the changes a lot more. For right now, a lot of the cool stuff they added just isn´t needed, it will be soon.
I do agree with the OP; but only with Cata. I think Wotlk and MOP, the changes they made make the game better. I think a lot of the Cata stuff was just side-grades.. ie.. change for the sake of change. I was very leery about the tanking changes in MoP, but it actually isn´t that big of a deal and does make tanking a little more active. I have 10 level 85s, most with dual-specs that I play.. I don´t know of any spec that feels like it went backwards (possibly BM and Fury), but most of them are more fun to play now.

To be honest, while the spells and abilities changed a lot this time, I found the playstyles didn't change too significantly (for most classes, anyways). It was mostly a few extra binds here and there and slight adjustments, but that's about it. Also, because I play all 10 classes, some of the more dramatic changes turned out to make the playstyle similar to that of another class =).

To draw a contrast, I played EQ 2 which seemed never to change the classes- they just added more moves and more talent trees and whatnot each time they increased the level cap. After like 9 expacs, the ability trees and rotations were so bloated it was horrible to play them. You ended up with hundreds of points to spend between like 8 pages of different talent trees, most of which were on useless or redundant talents.
It also created a rotation that was 14 moves long- not because there were 14 moves that all worked well together, but because the cooldowns were so long on the moves that you were getting through a dozen before the basic shots were off CD.
In order for leveling to have any meaning, they have to give us new skills and better stats. Otherwise there is no point. Certain stats are designed with certain stat caps in mind, and when the stat cap is exceeded by 700%, some of the scaling can break down. Also, if they incorporate new moves in every expac, these moves will either replace moves in your current rotation or be added to them. So, either your rotation will change as you level anyway, or your rotation has 1-2 new moves added every expac and is clunky and barely playable.
There's no way to avoid some changes while leveling unless they're sacrificing design utility or flexibility needlessly bloating the game.
