Hello fellow Ebon Knights!
The tooltips for abilities like Blood Strike, Obliterate, etc. state tha the damage caused in increased by X% for each of
your
diseases on the target. However, in most guides I have read people suggest that if there is another DK applying diseases (eg, in the case of having one tanking and one DPSing), yo do not need to apply them as well.
So, is this part of the tooltip just wrong. i.e. do they need to be
your
diseases to get the +damage bonus or not?
Thanks in advance for reading this and apologies if it seems like a noobish question

The damage bonus is based on your diseases only.
The guides you read were probably for raiding tanks, as
Death Strike
isn't affected by diseases, so the main reason a DK tank has to use diseases is the tanking
de
buffs
, and any other tank in the raid can provide these.

Except Icy Touch doesn't apply that effect any more in MoP.

Yes, but we will still apply the 10% physical debuff through diseases.
As it is now, tanks don't need to apply diseases manually because they can just Outbreak on cd(and thats worth it, TPS wise) and dps still have +damage modifiers on their abilitys.

however Outbreak goes back to 1min cd for us in MoP.

Yep, but I believe blizzard's design goal is to make us use diseases regardless, as every spec.
