Composing music is something I enjoy, and I was wondering if anyone else in off-topic enjoyed it as well, if it turns out that there are a few people that do I think this could be a good place to post your compositions if you are looking for a little
constructive
criticism from the community, or if you'd just like it to be heard.
Now I'm going to see if anyone responds before I post any of my compositions, but feel free to post yours right away.
It might also be a good idea to say what your background in music is, what instruments you play, and what genre of music you like compose.
I will be editing the first post whenever someone adds a composition, that way people won't have to look through the whole thread to find them.

One of my parents is a composer and, due to growing up in a musical house, I play a few of instruments (with varying degrees of success but mainly bass guitar/double bass and guitar). There was a point in my life where I had to choose between music and theatre and I chose theatre so I've not done so much music since then but I'd be really interested in seeing some discussion of the subject in OT!

I was meaning to reply to this as well.. I don't know a blasted thing about music and will not be able to contribute, but I am interested in music theory (the mathematical side mainly), and would be interested to read what music-type people have to say.
Physics and music are very intertwined, its where the nodes and anti-nodes match up that decides if 2 notes clash or sound good together. I also read an article about a physicist and 3 musicains making music from the LHC detector data.
I compose tunes on my corcertina. It's traditional Irish style music, so given the capabilities of the instrument, and the fact that other traditional instruments should be able to play at the same time, its jigs, one reel, two waltzes, and a hornpipe. Keys are G major, A minor, D myxolidian. It's also really common to have modal elements: many tunes in G major would use an F natural at certain points.
I also play DADGAD guitar, but as an accompaniment, so with that I'm composing all the time. The difference would be that that's more of a rough guide in my head, that varies depending on who/what instrument I'm playing with.
I love playing guitar in DADGAD tuning, everything sounds good lol.
I play guitar/bass, piano, marimba, and trombone, as well as various other instruments at lower skill levels.
Here
is my best original composition, I'm working on another right now, in a similar style.

I have to admit, I'm someone who wanted to post here before, but never got around to it.
I play a lot, and I impro a decent amount, but I very rarely record, so I won't be in a position to post much. I'm very happy to provide constructive feedback on anything that does come up though.

I edited the first post so that it would be easy for anyone who looks at the thread to find peoples contributions, and i will continue to do so for any contributions added in the future.

Just checked it out, sounds good. I kept expecting a bass drop since I've been listening to a bunch of dubstep recently, haha.

Haha thanks, I thought about doing it, but i have no where near enough skill in producing dubstep to make it sound good.
How do I upload a wmv file? Step by step please!
You can create a newgrounds account and upload your files to the audio portal there. it's a good way to get a large number of people to hear your music.
