The issue with this idea....people want to raid.
Edit: Also, that wouldn't 'make it come out faster' since there would still be PTR's for any new content anyways, just giving us a buggy game a la very early Vanilla.

How's this for an idea: Release the expansion without the new raiding content, so that the game can come out faster.
They do that, and the outside of their offices in Irvine will
look like this

I think I'd probably have to agree with this...
Given how people already think Blizzard is rushing things, this idea wouldn't help the situationn.

Bad idea.
A lot of people don't see level 90 as endgame, they see top raiding tier as endgame. Holding that back will just piss people off.
Also factor that at current people rush to max level, gear up as fast as possible, then clear raids as fast as possible (not even factoring it the world and realm first races). Taking out one of those is just going to make people whine earlier.

And I could see this causing subs to drop off.

A release without raid content, especially if it looks like at least a month away, will definitely have some people
not
get the game in the first few days of MoP, and, sad as it is, that would be devastating on a marketing level, which a
company
has to care about.
A better angle to this (and I guess/hope they're already planning this, based on what they said on BlizzCon) would be to provide more mini-content to bridge the gap until 5.0."3a" - I think level 85 scenarios coming with the 5.0 pre-patch (or even a 4.4 just for this) would play a big part in this - the Theramore scenario is definitely a pre-MoP story. I remember them saying they dislike how events from the novels, even when they have effect on the game, confuse non-readers. The scenario could be a short, abridged version of the events in the upcoming
Jaina novel
.

Would still cause sub drops, since even the 'casuals' are starting to use LFR to experience content....and as all of the opening tier of MoP raids are going to end up in the LFR right off the back, delaying the raids would kill people's interest.

And people aren't already bored and quitting due to lack of content? Why not give them most of the content from MOP very soon, then release the raids 2 weeks to a month later?
...Because the content is still bugged up the wazoo; releasing it early, without having everything tested, means more losing subs as people quit since they can't finish quests(right now there is a bug where NPC companions are making the game crash when they fight alongside you), can't do dungeons/zone to new ares(people are still getting stuck in the loading screens of death) and numerous other bugs still existing.
Pushing something out before it's ready is just a surefire way to get more and more people to quit.
Also; raid content is still important to the player base, and to Blizzard themselves: Blizzard likes the raids it puts out; better to have that on Beta then trying to do it on PTR's.

Not true, the vast majority of people are casual, and don't rush to max level to do hardcore guild raiding, that's the small minority of people in raid guilds. A very tiny percentage of the playerbase are hardcore raiders in raid guilds who are always trying to clear content as fast as possible to compete with other guilds, most people take their time and don't care.
Very true. When Blizzard scrapped Path of the Titans during cata development people were threatening to drop subs if it wasn't brought back, despite the fact that no one had ever seen anything about it apart from a paragraph on it OR had no clue whether or not they could use it. As well it was scrapped with Cata being launched was still pretty far away.
Then there was 4.1, where there wasn't even any raid content planned. People !@#$%ed whined, and threatened to close accounts then as well.
That was something no one outside of Blizz Development had even seen in function. You're trying to tell me that holding back something that has people know about and expect ON LAUNCH is not going to induce the same reactions?

You overestimate how long it takes to fix small bugs like quest bugs, and most people are saying the quests are mostly bug free, so no idea what you're talking about. And again, there's NOTHING to do right now in game, why not release what is done now, and what they can finish very soon, and give us something to do vs having NOTHING to do for the next month or two?
Sold...who are you actually going to believe...someone in Beta who has been experiencing the bugs, or people who haven't been. Right now, there are dozens of quests that can't be done, all across the zones; anyone who is saying the Beta is bug free is full of absolute %^&* and should get their head examined.
And there is a ton of ^&*! to do on Live: Get achievements, farm mounts, get pets, run random crap just for the fun of it. Jesu Tap Dancing Christo, releasing MoP now would be just about the worst thing Blizzard could do: It's not ready to come out.
But the point is the raid content will take as long to release. Release the game with what is done, and what will be done very soon which is the vast majority of the game except raid content, then when the raids are done release them, what's the problem here? I don't mean hold the raids back, I mean release the content when what's soon to be ready is ready and with what is already ready, and when the raid content is done, release it.
The problem is......
It's Not Ready To Be Released.
And Beta is meant to test things out; you'd be surprised by the number of idiots who still just sit in Stormwind/Orgrimmar and don't do what you are suppose to do in Beta: Test all content and report any bugs you find.

The people telling me the beta's mostly smooth are other people in beta on the official forums and other sites, so you have no more credibility than them.Lol...wut?
Quest bugs.
Scenario Bugs
.
Metric !@#$ ton of bugs.
Dungeon bugs.
Tech support
....yeah, smooth as silk, except for all those existing issues......
The vast majority of people are bored of the current content, and don't find grinding stuff to be fun, why not release MOP in early july if they can get everything but the raid content done by then?Because, for the last time: The quest content isn't ready to be released; they just opened up the Dread Wastes and are still having issues with the quests there as well as receiving quest rewards. /roll eyes
They'd still finish the raid content at the same time they would if they held the game back to finish it.Actually they wouldn't, since the Beta testers would be heading to live to do start the new game, rather then going on a PTR to test raid content.
