So Ive been using this addon to farm for the TIme Lost Proto Drake, and I opened it up in game and selected the time lost from the drop down list. Anyway I was flying around and the addon goes off that it poped up, but somebody els had killed it. I logged on the next day and opened up NPC scan, and TLPD is no longer on the list of custom NPCs. Can anybody tell me why or how I can fix this?
Also a second question, if Im running wow in windowed mode is it possible to make it so I can still hear wow even though its not my primary window? That way I can camp these rare spawns and my addon will still let me know when one pops up even if Im doing something els.

You will need to clear your cache. Basically, every time _NPCScan pops on a rare, it removes them from the list of currently searched NPCs (excepting when it pops due to a tamed rare). Depending on your computer system, how to clear the cache is slightly different. Basically, you want to find the "
Cache
" folder in your World of Warcraft folder and delete it - more specifically, the
creaturecache
and
npccache
files in
enUS
(or
enEU
, etc) inside the
WDB
folder inside the Cache folder.
Alternatively,
Onishiro
published a useful guide
Batch File clearing Cache for _NPCscan
with a "macro" of the steps.
(Edited to have guide linked)

Yes - if deleting those two files individually didn't reset _NPCscan (which I assume you removed when WoW was closed), you should delete the whole Cache folder - don't worry, all of those files and folders will reform and start collecting data again next time you log in. Again, the instructions are given below (with more information for Vista / Win7 users).
For most systems:
Exit World of Warcraft.
Delete the “Cache” sub-directory inside your World of Warcraft folder. For example on a standard Windows XP installation, you would delete the folder “C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache”.
Advanced users can delete “C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Cache\WDB\enUS\creaturecache.wdb” specifically to improve log-in times, where enUS is your language code.
For Vista and Windows 7:
Vista/Win7 can also create copies of the game files and folders which can interfere with updates.
To begin you will need to be able to view hidden files and folders.
Click the Windows/Start button, select 'Control Panel' from the menu, then 'Appearance and Personalization', then 'Folder Options'. Next click the 'View' tab, scroll down the list and look for the option 'Hidden files and folders', make sure this is set to Show hidden files and folders.
Now using your 'Computer' option in your main menu, navigate to:
C:\Users\*your account name*\AppData\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files
If there is a folder named "World of Warcraft" in this folder, please delete it and then restart the game using the Run As Administrator option.

To be honest, I just went to the addon page on Curse, where that information is all listed.
