Ok- I'll start a new version of this thread, since I thought it was a lot of fun, and Link is not planning to continue.
What was the video game that got you hooked on video games? Not the first one you played necessarily, but the first one you remember having that glued to the screen effect on you, or that you were really impressed by?
Mine was Dragon Warrior on the NES. We didn't even own it- my cousins from out of state did and they brought it with them when they visited once a year. I was really into that game, because I never got very far before they left. I think I finally got it on emulation a couple of years ago, and beat it on principle.

Probably pokemans. I didn't have a gameboy before the GBA though.

Ratchet and Clank: Up your arsenal. That title might be the best title ever, shame it got censored in Sweden.

The first game I remember loving was not even played by me, but my father. We used to have some SEGA console (I think it was called Mega Drive), and my father had a bunch of games for it. He liked racing games the most, but what I really loved was Sonic the Hedgehog. I couldn't really play it very well, cause I was like 4-5 years old, and I just wasn't quite as good with the controller. Not that I would be dumb as a kid, but come on, these old school platformers were not the easiest stuff. So most of the time I just watched my father playing and it was great fun and we were overdramatizing every event and my father didn't speak english so we sort of figured out our own storyline and stuff.
I never actually played the old Sonic games since then. But I did jump at the newest Sonic Generations game because in reviews I saw that it looks extremely similar to the old ones, and, AND, the soundtrack is made of some modernized songs from the old ones! Oh god I love the soundtrack. I also felt naturally interested in the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon that aired on TV, but not for long, because that was crap.
Then I got my first PC when I was like, seven or something, and I had a few games on it... there were a few which I can not remember the name of, but I also had a bunch of Disney games like Aladin and Lion King and the Duck Tales which I do remember. And Commander Keen. I hear that is a classic. I also had Golden Axe, but I hated that game.
My first RPG game was called "Gates of Skeldal", which is a rough english translation of its czech name. It only came out in czech language I think. It was an old school dungeon crawler, where all environment was made of tiles, and you moved like you do on a square grid, with your group of adventurers which you never actually saw, as everything is first person. That game was so difficult, wow. And I used to cheat in it
SO MUCH
, along with one guy from school.
You can imagine I was pretty happy when the Legend of Grimrock came out recently.
All the games I mention
got me hooked
to some extent.

#40- What Video Game Got You Hooked?
I think it was either Pokemon or Super Mario World. I don't recall.

Probably one of the games that came with Windows 95. There was one with loads of different bees cascading down the screen. The "player" was a can of raid and had to kill the bees. Certain bees were more dangerous than others, they dropped their stingers and stuff. Eventually the entire screen became full. I also enjoyed Meteorite, where Meteorites descend and try to destroy a city, the other games that still come with Windows OSs and another game featuring animals. I think it was made by the National Geographic.

Mortal Kombat II on the SNES. Loved Sub-Zero and the cheap attack that was an uppercut.
