Humanity has predicted the end of the world many many times in the past, and they have never been wrong before, so I would say that this is a trustworthy prediction. Besides, it comes out of hollywood. As we know, hollywood knows everything about everything, especially politics and religion.

The 6 Best 2012 Theories(That Are All Bull*!@#)
Post by
Laihendi
The specific date is December 21, 2012: the date the Mayan calendar supposedly ends. There are books devoted to it, websites obsessed with it. But experts say it's simply not true.
Washington University anthropologist David Freidel says the Mayan prophecy is part myth and part misinterpretation.
"2012 represents a renewal date of the calendar. It doesn't represent the end of the calendar, just one more day in the calendar," Freidel says.
He says it's just like the end of a millennium, with many more to follow. Freidel says the Mayans believed the world is basically eternal. He thinks it's just our culture that is looking for trouble.
"The Maya were not worried about 2012. We're worried about 2012 because we believe in the end of the world," he says. "And we have predicted the end of the world over and over again in America."
For those that expect tidal waves, earthquakes or war to wipe us out, Freidel says December 21, 2012 will bring only disappointment.
"It's just going to be one big hippie circus down in Maya country in Yucatan. It's going to be a lot of partying down there," he says. "The world isn't going to end. People are going to wake up with hangovers."
And there's more to the myth: something called galactic alignment. It's the idea that in 2012, the Earth will align with the equator of the Milky Way. This part is almost true; however, experts say the Mayans were off by a few years. It already happened in 1998.

How about we spread a rumor about a more likely time the earth might be destroyed, you know, that giant rock heading toward us and is
REAL
? Its true, watch alot of discovery, what's suppose to happen is it'll come way too close for comfort but will probaly miss.
Because it came so close, it will end up orbiting the sun for a few years before it will come back towards earth again, and if it hits a critical part of the earth's atmosphere, it will be pulled in and hit us. I believe it's suppose to happen sometime in 2030-2036

Well, it looks like this thread went down the toilet. I guess that it's safe to say that this needs to be locked. :/
One can only hope.

You're on the right track. If you want to start a really delicious thread, try something a little more controversial. Search online for a news article or a study done on something you feel strongly about. Try to find something that at least half the people here will find personally offensive. Make it into a thread and the first post summarizes the topic then asks for opinions. You'll hit 5 pages in a few hours.
No one cares about movies.

I respect your opinion, but I don't care about how many pages of replies there will be, if I start a thread. I just wanted to start a thread, get some feedback and turn it into a conversation. I thought that this was something that people were still talking about, so it seemed like a good topic for a thread.
Hmmm... you are missing the point. If it makes a good conversation, more people will reply, thus more pages.
And you thought wrong, friend. This is not an interesting topic at all. This is what I call 'lame'.
