There is a certain percentage of 'allowable' insect parts, and vermin feces that goes into most grain products, and some chocolate, as monitored by the US government. (Unlikely that Canada is more strict about this.) Double dipping hardly bothers me. Just keep the bugs and feces to a minimum, please?
Seriously though, this is how the food industry is. I'm not saying they could be considerably better, but it's not at all uncommon. GL to you though.

My aunt came over a baked/decorated gingerbread cookies. She insisted that we do this, as it was this big thanksgiving tradition. I'm friggin 28 years old, and my kids are not really interested in baking, but whatever. I spent money, prepared my kitchen, and spent most of a day with her baking and decorating hundreds of cookies. While she as decorating, she kept LOUDLY licking and sucking the sugar off of her fingers, and I'm pretty sure she has herpes, looking at the sores on her lips. She would put icing on a cookie, arrange it with her finger, then lick it, on every single piece of icing she put on every single cookie she decorated. I would estimate there were several tablespoons of her herpes infested saliva on those cookies. She went home after Thanksgiving, and every single one of those cookies got fed to the chickens. What a disgusting waste of my time and money. Skyrim had just come out and all I wanted to do over Thanksgiving break was play it, but you have to entertain company. For this reason, I didn't invite anyone over for Christmas break. Bah humbug.

I'd be cautious about eating them or their produce to be honest, though I can't find anything on the subject at the moment because of all the chickenpox results.
They are egg laying chickens, and such diseases are not transmitted through eggs. I'm fine.

@OP: every place you eat from does disgusting crap in their kitchen.
I spent my teenage years working in Australia's largest takeaway chicken chain (with the exception of KFC of course); I worked in 7 different outlets; and they were all filthy. The one I was based at was the cleanest, mainly because I was full-time there and I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but we still had to make do with what we had, which meant both raw and cooked chicken were prepared on the same bench. We washed it the best we could, but sometimes we wouldn't have disinfectant and had to wash it with basic, non-sanitised detergent or degreaser. Sometimes, during a hectic lunch rush we'd often take 120 orders per hour with me as the only kitchenhand, which is a lot more brutal than McDonalds taking 500 orders an hour with 6 kitchenhands, a lot more automation, and with their cashiers on french fry duties. So chickens would come out of the oven 3-5 minutes early, bacon would be put onto burgers raw in the hope that the microwave did the rest, you get the idea. Our coolroom usually sat at about 7-9°C too (they're meant to be below 4°C).
I ate food there all the time, and I'm sure as hell I ingested a hell of a lot of raw chicken during food prep. Never got sick once. Even when my immune system was down on a Monday when I came in strung out from a hard weekend of drink and drugs.
One of the flaws of capitalism is everyone's desire to cut corners, meaning we get sub-optimal food, sub-optimal engineering, sub-optimal service, sub-optimal everything. Sub-optimal does not necessarily mean bad though; chances are nothing that is done in that kitchen is going to cause anyone any harm. If anything, there's maybe a 1% chance that the bleach dishwashing will harm someone, but that's pretty much it.

Hidden camera footage was inadmissible as evidence where my dad worked, but that may have been because he was working in an airport.
Also, the larger corporate chains are worse if anything. They can make the waiters pay the barstaff and commis waiters out of their own tips and pay less than minimum wage... In fact, one restaurant in Central London pays precisely nothing to its waiters and the waiters have to make up the difference in tips. Mystery shoppers and surprise inspections tend to be more concerned with whether the waiter knows every detail of the menu and have their uniform correct, for some reason.
At a local Subway a health inspector came in and said they had serious concerns, lol. I'd been sick almost every time I ate there and finally gave up on them after they were also rude to me. Curse them for making such good sandwiches.

Worst thing I've heard of was a KFC where they found a rat in the deep fryer.

That was a very Stephen Fry - Alan Davies moment methinks xD
I've never seen them. I saw it more like a Ren and Stimpy moment.

Best of luck anyway.
Edit: I'm sure things will be fine that is.
