I actually laughed at your last statement, you really dont think that they know they are doing something illegal? they flaunt that they are on a regular basis while some users may use the site for resonable usues, most just use it to pirate things. Plausible deniability.

Is that clear? My head certainly isn't lol
The dimensions of online piracy are impossible to measure, and the financial impact, positive or negative, are not quantifiable by any tools we have. However, property that was not someone's property, was taken from it's owner. It's true owner still has the original, but did not release the stolen copy to that person. Regardless of the retention of the original, the copy was still stolen. Regardless of the malicious intent of the thief, the theft still occurs. Regardless of the provable impact, there is still some unwanted impact. I file online piracy under 'theft', despite its differences from traditional highway robbery. I find them both equally immoral.

While I disagree with your conclusion, under your definition of theft I can see why you believe that.
What's your opinion on non-file sharing copyright 'theft' such as singing happy birthday in public, or how you've got text from a copyrighted work in your signature?
I believe many things are in the public domain, like "happy birthday". They are more of a part of society than the things stolen on the internet. As for my signature, I wasn't aware that that was copyright infringement. My signature is as much a part of me as my style of clothing. I am certain that it came from me, and not from anyone else, besides the English language. If it is copyright infringement, then I would counter that I haven't stolen anything from anyone and the law is at fault of being imperfect.

Actually 'Happy Birthday' is no longer public domain; that's why so many restaurants had to come up with their own birthday songs.
And ignorance of the law isn't really a defense either heh.
Edit:
As for your sig well.....

So if someone independently came up for an idea of an existing product and produced it, they shouldn't be charged with copyright infringement? Does that apply to all forms of Intellectual Property?
I don't know about copyright law. I'm just speaking about the moral aspect. And I didn't just come up with the original idea for my signature. I developed it.

Aye, I'm just wondering what your opinion is about the morality of it.
My moral views don't always align with legal views. And I didn't just come up with the original idea for my signature. I developed it.And then you woke up.
I got something funny to tell you both. When you were speaking about my signature, I thought you were talking about my actual signature, like, what I sign my checks with. This whole time I was wondering what part of that was copyrighted. LOL
But, I was not aware that my quotation of a movie was copying that movie. I would disagree about the morality or the legality of that. Heck, other movies quote movies and such.

Well MyTie you need to be more precise in what you are referring to, as when ever someone says signature here, most think of the one at the bottom of the post.

Hey, someone else (I think Dr.Lore) brought up my signature in the first place, and I thought he meant my John Handcock. It's nothing more than a humorous misunderstanding. Anyway, I clarified my point of view regarding my forum signature.
