They've said they are considering adding an 11th character slot for MoP.

I picked the class I liked to play the least and deleted it to create space for a monk of some race or a Pandaren of some class. It was a great relief actually, and I don't feel the least regretful about it. Even if we get more character slots per server I won't reroll the class I deleted.

I do hope we get an extra slot (or more than one) so we can have 1 of each class per realm if we so desire (like we do now).
As to Pandaren, I'm not that fond of the whole animal with human characteristics idea, but apart from that they sound like a fun race (this has nothing to do with Pandaren in specific, but the entire concept in general, and IMO adding them was a smart move on the part of Blizzard because a lot of people in the potential customer base (teens...) do like the idea).
So I'll try them out, but will be unlikely to keep one for long (just as all but one of my worgens were either deleted or race changed, and the last one may well be either).

Actually, I think they were going to go beyond that (
remove char cap for realm
and just have it a 50 char cap over the whole account only, as per usual IIRC).
But yeah, that's the general gist of the idea (having space for that Panda =D)

Why would they throw away a clearly lucrative paid character transfer scheme?Wait, what, what does this have to do with anything?

curious to what class you decided to delete here!
For me it was an easy choice. shammy ent in favour of a second druid. so now im kinda worried to what will go next in favor of a pandaren!

Seems unlikely to me.

They may give us 1 extra spot to stop QQing, and ensure that you can have a Panderan on your main server, but beyond that... nah aint happening.
You never know. People have been wanting this for a long time. Besides, by that argument, Dungeon Finder, Raid Finder (in 4.3), Battleground queuing (for the entire region, which eliminates the need to change Battlegroups), and the potential cross-realm heirlooms (this appears to be happening at some point, but not sure) should be nonexistent, hrm?

Essentially, because of the 10-char cap on realms, it's either:
-Pay to move a char to preserve it and make the new char on your home realm
-Make the new char on a new realm
-Delete a char, make a panda...
I don't really see how it has so much impact on paid character transfer. What it might affect is people buying multiple accounts to have more chars on a single realm (although this is more for multiboxing than just having more character slots in most cases, I believe).

I'll personally just delete my lowest level and make a Panda Monk when MoP come out lol.

Cheers.I never understood what "just saying" actually means.
If someone gets a second account and plays the pandaren to 90, that's an additional subscription, as well as buying four additional expansions. Not a reasonable solution, even if it suits Blizzard perfectly.
Personally, I'll probably start a pandaren monk on another server, level it a bit and see how it feels. If I like it enough, I might delete an alt on my main server and level a monk there.

I deleted my warrior, even though it was level 70.

It'll likely be my warrior that gets canned too, assuming they don't give us an extra slot. Then again, I don't think my warrior will ever get past lvl 15, so I may as well delete him anyway.

I think Blizz will most likely change it so that you can have up to 12 toons on any realm, and change the UI to accommodate 12.
Cheers.

most people go for a character transfer not to port toons to the realm where their main presence is, but to move all toons from one realm to another to be with friends, because their guild moves, or in case of hardcore raiding guilds, to have a shot at realm firsts on a low population and/or freshly populated realm, etc. etc..
The cases where people create a toon on one realm, then port it to where their main presence is are probably few enough it won't seriously affect Blizzard's income.
What's more of an issue is realm population (the amount of data associated with all those toons per realm), but with ever increasing hardware speed and storage capacity that may by now be less of an issue than it was 8 years ago when the limit was designed.

Yes. We should pay an arm and a leg to do that...
