Super Mario movie or Final Fantasy movies? (They are pretty bad)
The Super Mario Movie was pretty cool to me.
Why? It had Daisy in it. She is really underrated in the Mario series and deserves more love.

Eh but overall it was kinda...bad.

I`m surprised no one has said it, but the only game-to-movie I have ever been able to tolerably watch is Silent Hill.
I`m a little scared for the WoW movie though, given Blizzards penchant for big, gaudy looking shoulders. Especially when I learned it was going to be live action and not cgi.

The only part of Silent Hill I thoroughly enjoyed was the way they did the Pyramid head. He was very true to his in-game counterpart and instilled just as much fear as you would expect.
The rest was pretty bad.
I initially felt that the film was mediocre at best, but when I factor in that it's a Doom adaptation it gets knocked down a few more notches. I hate to reference the Box Office #s, but in the case of Doom, I'd say justice has been served.
I honestly thought it was awesome.... And I've always been a big fan of the games.

Raimi is a shell of his former self. He's gone the way of Craven and Carpenter and became a total %^&*ing hack. I wouldn't count him out just yet, not like M.Night in any case. /shudder...
Eh, gotta agree there, after the utter crap that was Spider-Man 3.....

Hated the Doom movie, but I also hated Doom 3 so.......Stupidest mechanic ever: Flashlight or Gun. /roll eyes

You see, I LOVED Doom 3.
Don't get me wrong, the first two were definately better games. But Doom 3 brought them into the modern era. To see Doom brought to life with modern gaming technology was amazing. The demons were like nightmares leaping at from the the shadows, and the game found a perfect mix between an action shooter and horror.
I just feel the movie caught that feeling perfectly. And I'm not angry about the removal of hell. Not only would an excursion into hell have clashed with the rest of the movie, but it really wasn't needed.

/meh Jump scares, no actual real fear, and like I said, I hated the stupid arse flashlight mechanic; there was another game that came out a year or so after Doom 3, where 6 kids were trapped in a haunted school, and one of the kid's find a flashlight and a gun....his first very first move?
DUCT TAPE THE %^&*ING FLASHLIGHT TO THE GUN!
Seriously, a teenager figured out the big problem that the best of the best of the Marines couldn't......
Edit: Also, in regards to the other Final Fantasy movie, Spirits Within: As a Final Fantasy movie it falls flat(only recurring character is Doc Cid), but on it's own? It's actually a pretty good Sci-Fi movie, with an interesting plot about Souls, and some really freaky looking beasts.

I think I know the game you mean... the rest of it was pretty bad, /shrug. And the jump scares were pretty suprising the first play though. I facepalmed when Locker 666 took me by suprise and all.
Also, did you SEE that flashlight? Not only would you STILL be losing it by switching between guns, but tape it to the pistol and suddenly you can't shoot the pistol because your bigass flashlight is in the way.
And I don't even want to THINK about taping it to the soul cube.
EDIT: And I remember Spirits Within. That was pretty cool. It's hardly based off anything, but visually? It was amazing to look at the CGI and how real everything looked.

Honestly, the CGI of that movie looks a hell of a lot better then Avatar....

To be fair, I think that Final Fantasy: Advent Children looked great. and I have to agree with Berndorf: if they bring in a bunch of actors nobody's ever heard of before and if there's little to no work done on the script, then the movie probably wont have as much support from the fans of the game. The Warcraft universe has a very rich history, so they should have more than enough to work with. It's a matter of the amount of reliance they'll place on the fan-base though that will probably decide the success of the movie.

The problem is, no matter how amazingly nerdgasmic it is, the fandom will hate it.
Why? Because they would have expected more.
