Ahhh, ok. That was probably it. Did the second clip end with Bran falling from the tower?

Yep.
Seriously, watching that with my parents was almost as bad as when my mom made me watch True Blood with her.
You know the "Would you rather watch porn with your parents or porn with your parents in it?"
I've kind of been forced to pick the first one D:

Me and my dad agonized over what this one barbarian tribe was, until we finally figured out it was just made the hell up. Which disappointed me. In these instances, I'm more of a historian then a fantasy Geek. And dragon-eggs? There's not enough fantasy for it to be fantastical, and not enough history (or even too much fantasy) for it too be historical.
That said, it's still a great show.
You're nitpicking a nit that isn't there to be picked. Of course the tribe is made up. The whole world is made up. It's not historical. The overall theme might be based on the War of the Roses, but it's never presented as anything other than fantasy. The subdued nature of the fantasy is, at least for me, a huge selling point of the series.

As I said, I only watched fractions. Honestly, it could have been Historical Fiction, albeit in a made up setting. I think the 'Dragon Eggs' touch really breaks the deal. The first part was just me and my dad working ourselves up over nothing, like, "They're drinking from horns, but they're dark, so they can't be vikings. Did he call him Khan? No wait, Karl. That sounds Norse doesn't it? Wait. What was the name of their language...? Well, crap."
I just think the eggs were not necessary, and a lot more could be left to the imagination for the sex scenes. I enjoyed the plot though.

Read the books before you hate on the whole series just because of its TV adaptation. The books are some of my favorite ever. Seriously, they're very well written.

I don't like to associate books with their movies. It's best to think of them as completely different.

I think what Queggy was saying is that you shouldn't judge the universe based on a spin-off. It's probably best to read the books - there's small tangents that explain the world in them which just wouldn't work in a TV show.
Also, does AS's avatar remind anyone else of Jaime? I know it's Tirion Fordring, but Kingsguard wear white, and you can't see the Argent Crusade symbol on his tabard.
ikr? That's what I thought when I first saw it, as I'd never seen Tirion before. Hopefully we see more of Jaime in ADoD, as he's one of my favorite characters.

I guess. But at the same time, that's still the spinoff shows fault, and I can fault them for it. I'm not saying it couldn't ever be good, just that the balance is horrid in the T.V. show.

Don't think we will. ADoD is supposed to take place at the same time as AFfC, but with the other characters. According to the author's note in the back of AFfC, he started writing both as one book, but realized the time span he wanted would have made it very long, so he took about half of his subplots and made that AFfC, and left the other half for ADoD.
Ah, that's right. Forgot. Still good though, as we'll get Tyrion.

I am the Kingslayer, yo!
As for the flavor of the world, it's a very light fantasy. The magic in Westeros is very subtle and not at all spectacular - prophetic dreams, second sight, and so on. I believe the only "real" magic Martin has decided on will be in Asshai beyond the Shadowlands and north from the Wall.
