yeah, this is such a big change from the previous version of the game where we vehemently told everyone that clipping was bad that maybe i need to make a specific section in the FAQ that deals with it.
basically, (assuming no haste to make things simpler) if you cast corruption and then at 15.1 seconds (0.1 seconds after the second-to-last tick) you cast it again the duration on your corruption would go to 20.9 (the normal 18 seconds plus the final tick that you just clipped).
what this means is that if you recast the DoT at any point between the second-to-last and final tick you will not lose any efficiency (since you don't lose the ticks from the first cast or duration on the next cast) and you can maintain 100% uptime on the DoTs.
this 100% uptime is the goal.
(the exception is BoA which should not be clipped)
i'll work on a better worded addition to the FAQ on the subject. any input on that is (as ever) welcome.

To go back and address the hellfire maco question, you could use this macro I picked up the mmo lock forums. It basically creates an on/off switch for hellfire.
#showtooltip
/console Sound_EnableSFX 0
/cancelaura Hellfire
/stopmacro
/cast Hellfire
/console Sound_EnableSFX 1
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

tasty!
how about a version that will only cancel if you hold shift but is spammable in that it won't recast if it's already channeling?

I got a simple question
Is there a site up yet with decent semi reliable info on warlock pets? I checked thotbot which had all the new abilities but I'm not positive on the levels I get them. I ask because I decided to finally level a demo lock again and with the intro of Felgaurd at level 10 and the spells moved all over the place level wise I'm kind of taking a shot in the dark with my hopes of seeing some new moves for my pets.
Also note there is a lot of info on hunter pets at this site but I haven't found anything on warlock pets.

Has anyone tried to make any pvp specs or any have info pvp yet?
edit : I have tried playing with the talent calculator. Aff still looks like fun to play but lots of points would be going in there I think, not too many extra points to place elsewhere i think.
PvP is now pretty much "pick up whatever looks good".
I would probably roll with something like
31/5/0
. I would most likely take Succi Glyph, Shadowflame Glyph and Fear Glyph (maybe howl of terror glyph).
Destro is really, really iffy. If you want to roll with the imp, dark arts could be useful (empowered imp = totally optional). If you want to use Succi, burning embers and dark arts are unnecessary. Bane of Havoc is a preference talent as well. After the Searing Pain nerf I really wouldn't bother with it either. The only non-optional talents are Nether Ward+Protection, Backlash and Aftermath.
Demo PvP (dare I say it) can be fun as well. There are a ton of really bad talents though... Impending Doom is really weak (and RNG based), Inferno and Cremation are also pretty bad (chances of Cremation actually refreshing Immolate are close to zero, and you will never use hellfire). Ancient Grimoire is also really meh.
What this all boils down to is "the talent trees are filled with so many bad talents, it would be difficult to 'do it wrong'".

it really makes me sad that this is the case :(
some of the new stuff is so cool but so many talents are bad

Not sure I agree. The talents might be "bad" from a pure numbers standpoint, but a lot of them are pretty fun to use. The people who complained that 31pt talent trees remove originality/choice are full of it, the new talent design (and glyph design!) allows for a ton more options without doing things "wrong". In my opinion of course.

I've been trying to find out whether they made deaths embrace retroactive or not, havent been able to get really clear answers - anyone know? If they did, the temptation to put points here would be very strong. even if DS is a solid executioner in itself it's by no means sure that youll have the time / possibility to apply it.
I would most likely take Succi Glyph, Shadowflame Glyph and
Fear Glyph

you wanna give your most important spell a 5 sec CD in pvp? I doubt you do mister ^_^

Almost all correct, imo. Except the Glyph of Fear. It was made thinking in PvE situations, so your feared target won't run away, calling for help, and giving your party another pack to deal with.
In PvP doesn't worth give a CD to our best defensive spell just because you don't want to run to your target when it gets out of range.
Also I would take 1 point, probably from Fel Synergy, to put in Soulburn: SoC. But, that's my opinion as a BG PvPer. In arenas SoC is useless.

I would definitely take the fear glyph for PvP. If you can't see its uses, then fine, don't take it. If you have some experience in arenas, you would know how crippling it is for your target to run out of LoS 100% of the time you fear them, or for them to run straight out of your range. Now that we have 40 yard range it isn't AS bad, but it is still pretty terrible.
I hate leaving things up to RNG, and a measly 5 second CD isn't enough to convince me that it isn't worth it.

Hmm, I didn't tought on that. But, as I said, I don't do any arena. I really hate it. I like PvP, but only BG and the good ol' World PvP. So, for me, the glyph is useless. But have it uses in arena fights.
Time for my simple question: what means "RNG"? o.O'

Random Number Generator
Post by

RNG stands for "random number generator"
wow, just like its ancestor dungeons and dragons, rolls a dice to decide the outcome of various actions. this can be a small thing like deciding how much damage shadow bolt does (from 573 to 639) or a larger thing like whether your fear will get resisted in an arena.
while RNG is inevitable in this game it's generally discussed in a negative light as it tends to move results away from pure skill and more dependant on luck. in PvE an example would be if every one of your spells crit you would do tons of damage but your results don't say anything about the class in general because it was all RNG-based.
(btw, added to the glossary ^_^)

Be sure to take my decision with a grain of salt; this glyph is definitely a preference thing and definitely has its pros and cons even (especially) in arena play.
