AFAIK, no one has copied me (then again, the names I chose have already been used before I did). However, I wouldn't care, if I've seen another player, using the same name. I mean, it's bound to happen, so getting worked up about it seems silly.

The only time i get upset for someone copying my name is when it's taken when i try to make my character =D.
I've had this name before wow and sometimes i'll go type it in the armory to see what comes up and i'll see characters on other servers that i know i never made. Instead of getting upset it's actually flattering...it means you made a good enough impression on someone that they felt your name was worth copying.

I used to go to new servers and create an alt just to "secure" my name, if I ever felt like rolling there. Now I don't bother.
The game is pretty much slowing down now, and more people are leaving than are joining, so it's not as if anyone cares any more! :D

I was a little peeved when I saw the name Arkayn used.
I found it in the Dungeon Masters Guide, so I guess we could cite Gary Gygax or one his cohorts as the originator.
I love this.

Yes I get furious, especially when someone stole the name kaladin for a mage. Like days that makes no sense.

If a prefix like Kala was original I might understand your annoyance, but frankly it's not.
When a name or prefix like Kala appears in such subject matter as a world famous novel AND as part of the Marvel universe, I think it takes a huge set of brass balls to even question someone else using it.
Going with the general theme of the thread though.
No I don't. I think it is annoying when the name is taken and not being used. (although I have had some freed up by putting in a ticket)
Realistically though I think the number of truly original names are probably close to zero, so I certainly don't think someone can be accused of copying them from another user.
I know many might think they are being original, I seriously doubt it though, at such times I'm reminded of the South Park episode - The Simpsons already did it.

When did you make that character?
I ask because, in Brandon Sanderson's bestselling novel
The Way of Kings
, the main character's name is Kaladin. It was released in 2010.

Was also used in other things, such as the Wheel of Time.

There wasn't a Kaladin in the
Wheel of Time
. If there was, the publishers would have kicked an absolute fit that Sanderson was finishing the series and stealing a character's name for his own.

Funny thing was he didnt even knew what the name meant.
I think that's actually better because at least the person took the name because he simply liked it, rather than for example the thousands of variations on Khaleesi that sprang up with the televised version of Game of Thrones. (What I find even more moronic is the real world naming of babies that always occur with a smash hit show like
this, and as I Googled to check the spelling of Khaleesi what disturbed me more was the fact that the first three most popular results were baby naming sites.)

I am not surprised that many uses the same name as me, due it was taken from the morrowind game in a conversation about the dwemer. I am quiet sure I was the first one with the name.
I am more astonished with a guild mate and long time wow friend selection of name is still extremely rare(only 3) and was a long time only one called that. You would think that play of word containing lag, would been thought of more often.

I use
http://www.20000-names.com
and pick 2 or 3 different names I like. I then change up the letters and create my own names.
