The word "penis" should be filtered

Why should Wowhead do that? They have no obligation to the parents nor the children.
This is amusing.
They have a moral obligation. Wowhead should be thinking about what is best for the children.
What children?
I really don't think a large demographic of this site is made up of people 12 and below!
There is no way of knowing how old people who use this site are. Maybe you can get an idea from their posts, but what about the silent majority who read stuff here, but never post anything themselves?
But this isn't about numbers, this is about principle. One child's ruined life is one ruined life too many. Wowhead is morally obligated to make sure that kid has a chance at a healthy and normal life.

I say we start a vote on these subjects:
1. Is penis really such a sensitive word that will traumatize young people?
2. Should penis be censored?
3. Are children a large demographic of this site.
4. Do you think this is a troll thread?
Edit: Here are my votes:
No.
No.
No.
Yes.
I don't think it will.
I don't think it should be, because I don't think it's a sexual word.
I can't really answer that question, because I don't know.
We've all been trolled.
With that being said, I am done posting in this thread, because I don't want to be trolled.
I agree, I am finished posting here as well.

honestly the wowhead community is mature and the only person I've seen abuse this term to be even just slightly offensive to anyone at all might be you.Try to avoid petty personal attacks, and stick to the issue. With all your posts you know the community generally well and the board most likley to use the term is here in randomness. Tell me who in randomness will abuse the term? This isn't about who specifically will abuse the word, it's the fact that it can be abused. There is nothing stopping anyone from abusing that word, and causing problems for young children and their parents.
If your looking to save the innocense of your sister keep her in "safer" sites
this should help you find some
This isn't about Laihendi's sister, this is about young children EVERYWHERE. And there may be other safer sites out there than this, but there is nothing stopping young children from using
this
site. WoW is one of the most important video games in the world, and this is the biggest WoW help site. Because of this, a lot of people come here, and it's wowhead's job to make sure that this site is safe for
everyone
that uses it.

True!
So porn sites should also be PG because you never know'
Laihendi, you aren't funny
Porn sites are another problem altogether. But this isn't about those sites, this is about wowhead. Wowhead might not be able to stop other sites from having inappropriate content, but it can prevent that content from being shown on this site.

After a point, but 8 year old girls are too young to be exposed to the word "penis".

this'll be my last post as feeding a troll only fun for so long
Try to avoid petty personal attacks, and stick to the issue.
not a petty personal attack its a fact I've seen no one else abuse it but you
This isn't about who specifically will abuse the word, it's the fact that it can be abused. There is nothing stopping anyone from abusing that word, and causing problems for young children and their parents.
I'll belive this when I see an article of a person scared for life from using wowhead and seeing the term
the site is rated PG-13 expect PG-13 content
should a rated R site filter out words to save kids innocence? This isn't about Laihendi's sister, this is about young children EVERYWHERE. And there may be other safer sites out there than this, but there is nothing stopping young children from using this site. relevant how? someone needs wowhead help they don't go to randomness
as alrdy mention PG-13
/feedYoung children who have been negatively influenced by the word "penis" would probably not even be able to remember the first time they were exposed to the word, by the time their lives have been seriously messed up.
And even if this is a PG-13 site, there's nothing stopping younger people from using it. As said before, it is wowhead's moral duty to protect those children.

Actually no.7 years olds have full braim functions. Kids should be exposed and sex-ed from about 6.
If that happened, then kids would be curious and would start having sex by the time they were in second grade. This is just a slippery slope. You start by teaching 6 year olds what sex is, and before long you have teachers handing out condoms to them.

Generally our philosophy on profanity filters is that it's a first response tool that tells us what users we need to take disciplinary action against. Don't be one of those people. :P

And maybe someone who is 12 to 13 is old enough to have sex, but a 6 year old is way too young for that, and should not be exposed to that sort of stuff.

If children don't know what the word "penis" means, then they won't get any bad ideas. What they don't know can't hurt them.
