Okay, replace the healer gear with ele gear(noted for lack of mp5 most of the time), gem spellpower, enchant, aaaaaaannnnnnd make sure you make hit cap (14%) and your dps will probably go up.
Also, triumph badge trinkets are horrible...just horrible. There are ilvl 200 trinkets (both downgraded badges and drops) that are better itemized.
Also also, gem the meta that's 21 crit strike rating and 3% increase in critical damage done.
Someone who knows more about ele will probably jump in and list them all. I'm too lazy to.

I appreciate the help, but I wasn't look for gear suggestions as much as a pep talk I suppose. And I'm well hit capped with either the hit trink equipped or using the 232 staff.
Yeah, but you feel 'gimped' because, "but I just cant compete on the damage meters." The reason you can't compete on the damage meters might be a gearing issue, hence changing out the gear(ie the mp5 helm for the tier helm, windchill binding for the cloth belt off of heroic HoR)
You should go with whichever spec is fun. I go resto because keeping track of 10-25 targets is more fun than dpsing. I keep an enhance off-spec because it's the fun spec for soloing. I keep an ele off-spec because I'm least likely to die as ele in raids on the rare occasions I dps.
So, do what is fun.

And I must say, having the almighty Gnub in my topic makes me smile like the first time I got a massive Windfury crit with my Unstoppable Force in Vanilla WoW's AV :D
