Your allowed to be a fan of it, but that doesn't really give you the right to more or less call people who don't like the show idiots; I don't do that for the fans after all. you do it for me as much as I do it for you, sorry
for the record you insulted the show first, I just defended it
Um what? I didn't insult you at all. And if by insult you mean:
Hoorah for a show that should have ended years ago.
I know you do... that's my point; I saw the Beast and lost all interest in the show afterward.
I tried to watch the second one and got bored, and haven't had any desire to watch it since. As for ratings..... meh, crap shows like Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and other things draw in big ratings for some reason, but that could be put down to people are sheep lol. in response i would say lost requires a bit (a lot) more brainpower to enjoy than dancing with the starts or idol (i would say the same about l&o)
its apples to oranges anyway
critically acclaimed dramas =/= pop reality TV
/shrug, like I said, ratings don't mean much; lots of crap get's the high ratings while the good stuff is pushed aside. Again though, I don't like Lost, and haven't since it started; it really should have ended a few season ago instead of limping to the ending it's doing right now.
For the Lost-haters: What do you not like about the show? Is it cliche? Predictable? Do you feel it suffers from something that previous shows have suffered from? What could be changed about the show that would make it acceptable to you?As I said, I watched the first season, but only because of the Beast, as I wanted to see it.... but beyond that, it just didn't draw me in; none of the cast is very memorable to me, the stories were standard sci-fi/drama fare. It also didn't help that when Lost was on, there were other shows I wanted to watch more really, and as it changed nights fairly regularly originally, that would mean it was up against a CSI, a Law and Order, Eureka and other shows that were... just better to me.
I don't look down on people who watch Lost, that is there right, but when they go on and on about how it's the best show ever, that's what makes me want to tweak them and pull their noses. If my comments have insulted anyone, I'm sorry... but I don't take them back heh.
see, lost never gets oldIn your opinion at least; got old to me after the first season.
So after reading this*Major spoilers(I guess)*
.... I'm so glad I lost interest in this show. That's a ridiculous ending really..... might as well has just done the 'It was all just a dream' and got it over with.
Unless my writing is off or something, I don't see me insulting the show, beyond giving my opinion... unless that's the insult because you disagree with me. Also, you are the one insulting those of us who disliked the show,
hell, at one point, you said that anyone below a certain IQ wouldn't get it anyways
. Again, it's fine to defend your fanism, but when you just insult people for disagreeing with you, you lose a lot of your 'credit'. As I've said all through the thread; I watched the first season, saw the Beast, watched a few episodes of Season 2 and said 'screw it', and went off to watch other things, as I lost interest in the show. And you know, something you said earlier; Lost has 6 seasons, that's it, Law and Order has been on TV for almost 22 years, and spawned several spin-offs; if that's not a cult following, I guess I don't know the definition of it.

I know you do... that's my point; I saw the Beast and lost all interest in the show afterward. waitwut? how does the second statement discredit the first as a burn?
sorry man, you've been trying to sh*t on lost since i started the thread, don't insult anyone reading it's intelligence by denying that
I tried to watch the second one and got bored, and haven't had any desire to watch it since.

I would like to point out limping however
you could easily make the argument that the derogatory language was just colorful, but your first statement in the thread basically ruined your chance of an unbiased argument
it doesnt really bother me that you don't like the show, just make sure you stay on topic when I call you on your logic about why you feel its bad
Unless my writing is off or something, I don't see me insulting the show, beyond giving my opinion... unless that's the insult because you disagree with me. Also, you are the one insulting those of us who disliked the show, hell, at one point, you said that anyone below a certain IQ wouldn't get it anyways. wrong
in response i would say lost requires a bit (a lot) more brainpower to enjoy than dancing with the starts or idol (i would say the same about l&o) I insulted dancing with the starts and idol, calling them stupid
I was agreeing with your much more direct insult of the same showscrap
Again, it's fine to defend your fanism, but when you just insult people for disagreeing with you, you lose a lot of your 'credit'. just as much as you do when you do insult the show in the first place?
but seriously man, its not an issue, insults are part of almost any argument, we just need to try and avoid tangents like these
As I've said all through the thread; I watched the first season, saw the Beast, watched a few episodes of Season 2 and said 'screw it', and went off to watch other things, as I lost interest in the show. but not enough to still post your feelings and opinions about it online 4 years later...
And you know, something you said earlier; Lost has 6 seasons, that's it, Law and Order has been on TV for almost 22 years, and spawned several spin-offs; if that's not a cult following, I guess I don't know the definition of it. waitwut? L&O again? I agreed it was a good show, i just argued that Lost was better
but then just pointed out that you couldn't compare them, as lost was serial television, anyone can watch a random episode of L&O and thoroughly enjoy themselves, you don't need to watch episode after episode to stay up to date
shows following that formula
rarely do well
btw very nice dodge we are way off topic

I'd suggest you look at my post again GSS, I put in a link exactly where you insulted someone's intelligence about watching Lost. As for the rest /shrug, you put this on an open forum, did you really expect it to all be "Oh yeah! Lost is awesome! So cool! The greatest!", cause if you did, you should have stuck to the blog topics you have posted before. As for your 4 year later comment; note my join date lol, four years ago, I wasn't part of the Wowhead community. So yeah, as I've said; don't like Lost.

rarely do wellSorry, I have to laugh; Law and Order and the spin-off's, Criminal Minds, the CSI's, and other shows follow that formula and they rate just as high as Lost in the ratings. But hey whatever; your allowed your opinion, I'm allowed mine, that's what makes this forum a free thinking place. Salute.

but the link in question just a smart alec response to a smart alec comment
If you watched every episode you wouldn't be confused, the show really isn't that hard to follow if it was the show wouldnt have the number of regular viewers it does (people generally enjoy knowing what they are watching)
if someone was having trouble following the story, it would be due to their trouble following, not the story being hard to follow
also, if I didn't insult his intelligence because he was serious about what he said, obvious quip is obvious he was simply mocking the nature of the show?
As for the rest /shrug, you put this on an open forum, did you really expect it to all be "Oh yeah! Lost is awesome! So cool! The greatest!", cause if you did, you should have stuck to the blog topics you have posted before. no? I told you, i have no problem with people insulting the show, because i clearly have no issue with defending it
if I was under that impression I'd probably just call everyone an idiot and let the thread die
As for your 4 year later comment; note my join date lol, four years ago, I wasn't part of the Wowhead community. So yeah, as I've said; don't like Lost.
ok? how does that change the fact that you are still talking about it after you lost interest in it
Sorry, I have to laugh; Law and Order and the spin-off's, Criminal Minds, the CSI's, and other shows follow that formula and they rate just as high as Lost in the ratings. no, no,
no
not one of those shows follows the formula of lost
Average US drama
cast: small regular/return cast, large number of guest starts
ep: stand alone plot with the occasional 2/3 partner
Serial TV (Lost, Prison Break, Heroes, Damages)
cast: larger regular/return cast, smaller number of guest stars
ep: continuation of the previous episodes story arc
you really couldn't be more off
But hey whatever; your allowed your opinion, I'm allowed mine, that's what makes this forum a free thinking place.and Ive never said/insinuated otherwise

you really couldn't be more off/sigh, Read again I was talking about the Law and Order formula; different crime each week, with some of them connecting at some point down the line. I did not say any of those were like Lost, you just misread in your rush to answer. And really, you want serial TV, better examples would be Stargate Atlantis, Eureka, Jericho and the like(note, in the case of Jericho and Eureka, those took precedent for me over trying to figure out the next time Lost was on(as said earlier, it changed days quite a bit up here on the Canadian channels)).

I'm allowed to voice my opinion on something I didn't like? sure, you didnt like the first/second season
the point was that you didnt watch the show since then and therefore had no basis for the finale
hell you didn't even understand what happened from reading the first paragraph or two of that article
/sigh, Read again I was talking about the Law and Order formula fair enough...
shows following that formula
rarely do wellSorry, I have to laugh; Law and Order and the spin-off's, Criminal Minds, the CSI's, and other shows follow that formula and they rate just as high as Lost in the ratings
yea i think its pretty obvious thats not the case
I did not say any of those were like Lost again, shows following formula
rarely do well]Sorry, I have to laugh; ...other shows follow that formula and they rate just as high as Lost that is
exactly what you were saying
you just misread in your rush to answer we can argue semantics if you'd like; I didnt misread you mistyped
(although i think its pretty obvious that you are just retracting now)
And really, you want serial TV, better examples would be Stargate Atlantis, Eureka, Jerichohow would those be better examples? they all follow a single major story arc you can't really say a show is less than a serial show if it stuck to the same arc without deviating
Lost deviated once
and the fans ripped the creators a new one for it
and they promised never to do it again
and they never did

You know, I was going to respond with some good comments... then I realized something... I don't care. Your right GSS, I don't have to say anything about Lost, because I didn't watch all the seasons... because the 1st and 2nd one bored me to tears. So yeah, sorry my opinion differed from yours, and hey, it's great you obsessed about this show for the last 6 years, serious kudos to you. Here's hoping another standard show starts up so you can obsess about it too.

I was being serious. sure, obvious quip is still obvious
The show is known for being confusing; ..if you miss an episode/ try and pick it up after the show is well under way
the reason people sh*t on lost for being "confusing" is because so many tried to start watching halfway into season 1/start of season 2/etc like they do with most television, serial TV just recently caught on as acceptable for long term prime time series, people are indisposed to the idea that they shouldn't have to have watched every episode of a show to know whats going on
the mystery is what keeps people glued to it. mystery =/= confusion
No, they're not. If someone can't handle the argument, they usually lean towards insults to help belittle their opponent and his viewpoints.its better than dodging those arguments
completely
I don't think you're quite understanding what's being said, or the difference between the two. Insulting a show =/= insulting a user. They are two completely different things.hypocrite much?

it just means they were able to defend their points better than you were able to defend yours

What? I'm not being clever, witty or sarcastic; I'm being 100% dead serious. sure
No, it's because so much is left as a mystery until the next season, where only some of it is revealed. no, actually its because of exactly what I said
want to know why it was so hard for serial tv to make it to primetime? a formula for television that in the 90s and early 00s was limited to only soap operas
network didnt want prime time shows that no one (people who dont/cant religiously watch shows)
the fact that its serial, means that its already lost an unmeasurable chunk of its veiwers
I didn't say that mystery = confusion. it was your support for your whole argument for why people would be confused
What I said was that the mystery in the show, which continues on season after season, is what keeps so many people glued to it. in which case you have no support
The fact that the mystery goes on for so long is what causes the confusion. oh ok, people are confused because the show lasted for a few years gotcha
"IT R SO LONG! 6 YEARS WUT? CONFUZZED!"
There was honestly nothing to argue.
except
1) stuff has been steadily revealed since the pilot, the show wouldnt be watchable if that wasn't true
2) you claimed to have stopped watching in season 1 or 2, so where is your basis for your claims on season 3,4, and 5?
3) having a "bit of confusion" left for some answers is a staple of good literature, forcing the reader (viewer) to come to their own conclusion on things is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the show, that being said, however, there are plenty of answers to lost questions that were completely and thoroughly answered, with no space for viewer interpretation
You attempted to insult me see above; not an insult
I tried to elaborate and you still failed to grasp the concepts. except you didnt elaborate at all, you made your support, i called that support into question and you tried 9failed) to insult me
/wooshhow is that not a dodge?
seriously though, next time you try and use a easy meme like that make sure you use it correctly
Rather than continue on a downhill path, I avoided it all together so the argument was a downhill path, why are you still here
You weren't understanding it enlightened me with the underlying concept that wooshed past me
I still don't think you would have if I continued; if you started with insults on me that early, who's to say that it isn't going to get worse? again, part of the argument, you clearly have no issue with it as you took part in it as well
Please do elaborate.you partook in it as well you can't really rise above something you are just as guilty of

You aren't defending your points, you are looking like an idiot. You do not need to insult people to get a point across. If you do, it means your argument sucks like crap.
