Like I said, it isn't like God is pushing you down the garbage chute. It is more like you are jumping down the garbage chute, while he is begging you not to, while you are insisting about how unjust he is, and how the dump you are going to end up in is HIS fault.... hmmmm.
I think our perspective differs too much to reach any common ground.Well I don't hear any begging. As a matter of fact, I don't hear anything at all.
That is where the whole "faith" thing comes in.And I've talked about that before. Russel's Teapot and all that.
Why should I believe in God?

You shouldn't. I don't think anyone cares if you do. Sounds like you are coming here hoping for people to convert you because you are nervous at the concept that a Hell might exist. No, I find it annoying that people believe that I will go suffer for eternity, but they insist that God loves me anyway, and that he wants me to believe in him.
And you say I shouldn't.

What would really suck is if one of those ancient religions that says that are souls are eternally digested by giant worms is right. Now THAT would suck. The most powerful deity being evil/amoral... man, hard to think about. I guess that is just best to put out of mind.

The whole concept of hell seems idiotic to me. If there was a god, and he wanted to eternally punish his subjects for disobeying his rules, don't you think he'd send something more to us than a book and some clergymen to spread 'his word'?
People would never be satisfied. Even if He were to come down from heaven, prove that He were God by doing miracles, and try to offer us all eturnal life, I think we would probably still try to kill Him... oh wait...
Actually, if Yahweh, or God, or Adonoy, did come down to earth, I probably would give him the Death Penalty. I cannot count how many crimes against humanity he has "committed." He is a complete sadist and a sociopath.
Just so you guys know, the great flood and the slaughter of innocent children aside, in Numbers he kills his own chosen people, simply for complaining that they were stuck in the desert and had only one food every single meal.

Why? Is it because he "created us?" If I father a child, do I have the right to abuse them?

Of course. You can lock em up in the basement and torture them if it pleases you.

No, because how you do kill an omnipotent being of ultimate power heh; sure you can put him on trial, but he can just sit there and smile and nod, accepting everything we say to him... but we couldn't kill him anyways.

I believe in Hell. However I refer to it as "Outer Darkness," and only the 1/3rd who rebelled, Sons of Perdition (aka Cain, who is the only one right now IIRC), and those who have truly felt the Holy Spirit and left the church, proclaiming it to be untrue even when they believe it is true.
Murderers, Rapists, people who commit moral sins and the like go to the Telestial Kingdom, which more glorious than Earth, but you are not allowed to have families or be near the Lord.
People who sin but not as much go the the Terrestrial Kingdom, which even more glorious than the Telestial Kingdom (The light of the moon compared to the light of the stars. Yes I know the moon gives no light, it's just that the moon reflects light blah blah blah).
People who are baptized with the prayers by a member of the priesthood and live good lives (read, not breaking the commandments) go to the bottom level of the Celestial Kingdom. No revelation is givin about the center.
Those who are married and sealed in the temple (note: a man and a woman) and follow the commandments and various other things go to exaltation where they have the chance to become a God.
This is what I believe.

Yes, but MyTie's whole point is that he was stating that we would try to kill him. And yes, if it was an isolated event that wouldn't have severe repercussions from the misguided, in my opinion, Religious people, if it were possible, I might kill him. The whole idea is the intent.

Again though, a mortal can't kill God, simple as that. And actually, in the States, they wouldn't try to kill him anyways... doesn't it say, quite clearly, above every judge's bench in the country "In God We Trust"? Seems an oxymoron that you would put him on trial in a place where he is trusted.....

Again, refer to what I said; you can have intent all you want, still doesn't mean
you
could kill him, unless you suddenly had powers equal to his own.
And thinking on something beyond that; if God ever did appear in America, your entire country would be boned; after all, doesn't it say "One Nation under God"? Guess Obama would be gone from the Whitehouse as the Big Guy takes it over.

As I said, twice, it's about the intent. The fact that, if I had the power, I would kill God, or have him killed or whatever. I'm not saying I could kill him. I'm saying that if it were possible, I might kill him.

And as a Christian, I'm pretty sure he would. Even if we didn't invoke God's name on every bill. I would probably get the hell out of the country before we get God's 'angles,' that is, the divine version of Stalin's special police.

When Jesus came to earth, many of the Jews didn't believe He was their Messiah because they were looking for someone that would be a literal king and saviour from the oppression of the hated Romans. God didn't come to earth to rule over us. He came to save us.
In a hypothetical situation, IF God came to earth again, and IF he came to America, I wouldn't expect to see Him in the White House. I'd expect to see Him out on the street helping the needy.
