Kill on sight. The way I see it, the alliance, regardless of level, are enemy soldiers. Letting them pass is dishonorable and dangerous. But sometimes I slip up. Sometimes I'll let a lowbie slide. But that's not often. On a side note, do you attack skulls?
Personally, I'll only attack grays if they're actually in my way. The same thing goes for camping - I won't sit around waiting for them to rez, but if I'm questing in that area and see them again, I'll attack. I rarely attack anyone fighting a mob, prefering to watch the fight, then attack when the mob is dead (or get the KB if the player is about to die, I'm kind ^^)
For everyone else, my motto is "Its boring to play on PvE servers". Even if I think I'll loose, I normally attack - its amazing how shocked (pun intended) many become when a cow a few levels lower than them ride up and SS, ES and WF / crit at least half their hp away in a few secs :)

Regardless number / charc / level:
If an horde is under attack I attack does noy matter if I am in my prot warri or balance druid.
My rules of engagement other than above:
1. He is gnome
2. He is in Horde territory
3. He is trying to kill me
4. He is in ogrila / zangarmash cenarion / shadowmoon quest givers area or similar place, over a tent / a mushroom / building waiting to gank someone which causes severe adrenalin boost on my veins and results in anger/rage... This is maddness !!!

Attack skulls? Hell yes. I'm a Paladin baby. Theres nothing more satisfying then taking down a skull because you know whoever it was is just sitting at their computer QQing their heart out on WoWHead forums about how OP your class is (even though it's not).

I generally will only kill characters who are 'green' or above. However, I try and stay away from 'skull' marked player. If I am repeatedly killed while I'm leveling, I'll get a friend or two to come around and put them back in their place.

I play horde on a very active PvP server. That being said I don't mind being ganked by a 70 when I'm level 30. Fine, you 1-shot me now go away. Don't sit there and camp me when I was minding my own business running somewhere.
I don't think I've started a fight yet, but I will not gank someone gray to me unless they hit me first. I find it funny that when a 34 loses to a 30 he has to call his 70 friend to camp me, even though he started the fight first. QQ moar nub.
Lastly, WTF is with alliance taking over Crossroads, then leaving when some 70s show up? You don't want to PvP or else you'd go fight at Org or something. Losers with too much time.

I for the most part, do not go out of my way to attack grays if I'm focused on something more important, but do believe in being the spontaneous a-hole, if opportunity presents itself. Ex. Blinking into a full party of allies, running toward RFD, away from me, and aoeing them down, cannibalizing, and farting.
Being ganked on a PvP server in my opinion, is what should be expected. It keeps you on your toes, and it only teaches you to get better at checking your surroundings. However, you must be prepared for retalliation tenfold if you can dish it out.
Getting camped really does suck, and it's weak to do to other people, but it really is what comes from a PvP server. That's why we have alts and mains to log onto, if you get tired of stupid people.

I've been on PvP servers since WoW launched in EU. As a general rule when I'm questing, I leave people alone unless they act aggressive. If they attack me first, I will retaliate full force. If they gank me, especially when I've left them alone after showing myself, I will return the favor tenfold, until they understand how stupid it is to gank a rogue on a PvP server.
When I'm not questing, I attack players only when they are out of combat (aka after they have killed their mob). Depending on the class or spec I fight I will wait until the player is fully rested up. As I'm a rogue I can choose when I want to attack, but I very rarely exploit this to get a (more) unfair advantage.
You're like that small 1% of rogues that have some honor. You are rare sir. The base of your class population are retards that are like " OMG A LVL 34 AT HALV HELTH...*sneak sneak sneak* AMBUS LOL ...I r awsme!!!"
hey! Im one of the rare 1% too :)

I prefer to mind my own business, throw them a /wave, and move on. But if its someone that ganked me before that I remember, I'll follow him from up high, wait till he's near dead, and then gank him, just to return the favor. I don't bother camping unless the guy really @#$%ed me off :p most of the time its a waste of my time though
