How come gemming a purchased item makes it nonrefundable, but enchanting it doesn't?

That's something I've always wondered about. Does anyone have an answer?

I bought some gloves from one of the emblem vendors. The confirmation box didn't pop up when I enchanted it, and the light-blue text is still there, the one that tells me how much time I have to refund it.
Is it different with drops? Does your ability to trade BoP items with other eligible players go away when you try to enchant them?

I wonder if it's different with different enchants... when I utilize a Spellstone or Firestone on my Warlock, or use Flametongue Weapon or Rockbiter Weapon on my Shammy, these are treated as temporary "enchantments", after a fashion. It's not unknown for Blizzard to occasionally let something slip through the cracks, in the huge game that is the World of Warcraft.

It does. I just bought a new ring last night, and got the confirmation box when I enchanted it.might be because ring enchants are exclusively for enchanters
anyways i dont think enchanting binds it to you cause I've seen many BOE's being sold with enchants already on them... in fact, im almost positive ive seen BOE's being sold with gems already on them too o.O
Putting gems or enchants on items doesn't soul bind the item to yourself, it is supposed to make them nonrefundable and nontradeable.
In practice I have noticed I get the confirmation popup when enchanting and gemming a new piece of gear which means it doesn't actually properly make the item nonrefundable or nontradeable after enchanting an item.

I think that is the definition of Soulbound.

Were you enchanting it
after
you gemmed it? The box won't come up twice, you know.
He's probably confused since it did for a while. It was really annoying. Also did the same with gemming after enchanting.
It still does for me with vendor-bought gear. Gets on my nerves.

Reading comprehension FTW? Two seperate mechanics here:
Using enchants and gems will not soul bind something to you unless it specifically says so. (BoE -> BoP)
Using enchants and gems will make an item nontradable and nonrefundable. (BoP, bought and looted)

It does come up twice. I gem a new item and it brings up the confirmation box, then I go to Enchant it and it brings up the confirmation box again.
