I give all you end game priests credit. I recently decided to roll a healer and spent 80 badges on the boa chest and shoulders and am just hating this priest. Leveling is so torturous on this toon I cant believe all of you made it to 80. Mine sweeper is more fun than this. I am level 13 atm, is it me or it does it take forever to down a single mob? And forget about pulling more than one thats just asking for trouble, not too mention drinking after every 3 kills. I have a mage, warlock and DK as well and even the mage was better than this, the other two were like playing as the lich king himself compared to the priest. At what level does the priest begin to shine as far as soloing goes? Right now im just gritting my teeth to 15 and then I plan on using th DF to heal and level through instances.

If you're finding it hard, you're doing something wrong. Leveling a priest was amazingly easy for me, and very fun too, as it was my first healing class.
At 13? Grab an
Enchanting Wand
(DOES NOT require Enchanting) and learn to use it well. Wands are immensely OP at lower levels, doing much higher DPS than even 2hand melee weapons, because of the high damage and low speed.
Smite -> SW: Pain -> Wand to death.
That's what I did, and it worked fine for me.

I had the same problem as you until I came across the fabulous, awesome, unbelievable and god damn sexy
Energizer Spec
. Priests begin to shine at level 20, when they get Holy Fire, combined with
Glyph of Smite
it provides some really awesome numbers.

Both great suggestions, I had forgotten how OP wands were in the early levels, my other 2 clothies havent used a wand for any serious reason in so long. And the energizer spec post is a great read and something i will be trying out.

I have leveled (in order), a Warlock, Priest, DK, Mage, Shaman, and most recently a Druid.
I used the energizer spec on my Priest while leveling and I have to say it was highly enjoyable, and no more or less painful than any of the other classes. There will be times when you will need to stop and drink if you just blast mobs down with your spells, but if you learn to manage your mana better by playing with the 5 Second Rule, you'll have mastered one of the most important lessons as a Priest.
Learn to use your wand to get yourself out of the 5 Second Rule just before a mob dies, and your Spirit Tap will be even more effective.
I love my Priest. None of the other classes I've leveled have come close to taking over as a new Main.

Pick up a crafted wand from any enchanter. It will be your main source of damage until lvl 20 and it will often be used even up to lvl 40.

Level 20 now, after using shield and wand it went a lot smoother, much less downtime. I've also been healing using the DF which is just a lot of fun and helps break up the monotony. Speccing for energizer now and getting the hell out of barrens, god i really hate that zone.

Tbh. the problem with lvling a priest isnt that its hard or slow, because its very easy and actually quite quick. The problem comes when you take into consideration how much more easy all the other classes is to lvl.

So I've leveled a draenei priest using this method, and now I'm leveling a night elf priest. What I've noticed is that yes, it's boring before 15 (when you get the dungeon finder), but it's also VERY hard if you're not in one of the newer starting zones. I wonder if it's because you get better quality quest greens or the zones/quests are designed better, or if it's just a placebo effect and I just hate Darkshore that much.
Seriously, I had so much trouble leveling in Darkshore that I just decided to hop over to Bloodmyst and continue leveling there.
