Damn them
!
Damn those mortal weaklings
! Anuk'arag crawled through the halls at a rapid pace. He knew the way by heart and would soon reach his destination.
-
Those mortals will pay! he thought, none will defy the Scourge and live
! He turned the next corner and then entered the command room. Using his remaining strength he crawled onto a large slab and called into the forgotten city. "Doctor! Attend me!"
- A very healthy-looking cultist walked into the room from a side door. "What is it now?" he asked, sighing as he saw Anuk'arag. "Look at yourself! What did you do this time?"
- "Save it, Kohler," Anuk'arag spat, "just fix me."
- "Of course, of course," the doctor said with a sigh. "Just give me some time to gather my tools." He turned and began to walk off.
- "Doctor," Anuk'arag called out. "What happened to my warriors?"
- "How should I know?" Kohler said, still walking off. "I'm just a doctor."
- Anuk'arag glared at him then looked away. He screeched a high-pitched call, and several Anub'ar warriors - viziers, crypt lords and normal soldiers - appeared almost instantly at the door. "Find the living," the wounded vizier commanded, "and destroy them. Use whatever traps you must."
- Then Anub'at silently moved off to do as they were ordered. Anuk'arag turned his attention away and created a small orb of magic energy that searched through the tunnels for him and then focused on the enemies of the Scourge that had defeated him.
- "You have no idea what awaits you," Anuk'arag cackled, breaking into another coughing fit.
...
- "Look out!" Jason yelled as the floor collapsed in beneath them. Nilon, Rey and Jason managed to grab hold of some sort of edge to keep from falling. Slayer, though, lost her grip and began to plummet into the spike filled bit a good thirty meters below. Jason quickly reached out and grabbed her hand, sparring her a rather messy death.
- For the second time since he'd come to Northrend, fear shined in her eyes.
- With a single motion, Jason threw Slayer back up to safety and pulled himself up. Then he reached down and grabbed Nilon and Rey, pulling them up with ease.
- "Sorry," the warrior apologized. "I might have forgotten to mention that these inner halls are overflowing with pitfalls, spike walls, and other traps of all kinds."
- "
How
does one forget to mention something like that!" Rey asked.
- Jason shrugged. "Must have slipped my mind."
- "You're insane!"
- "Enough," Nilon said, trying to keep the death knight from killing his old friend. "Jason, do you at least have the traps mapped out - even if just to an extent?"
- "Of course I do," Jason replied, "it's right here in my-." His face grew pale, and he looked back into the pit.
- His pack - with all of his maps and gear - was sitting at the bottom - which was illuminated by the torch that had also fallen.
- "Light damn it," he swore.
- Nilon too muttered a swear under his breath. This mission had just gotten that much more difficult. But, Light preserve them, they would complete it! "Do you still know the way?"
- "Fortunately," Jason said, his grin returning. "I've got the layout of this place memorized." he looked down the hallway into the pitch black. "Got a light?" he asked Nilon.
- The paladin conjured a spark of holy energy and handed it to Jason. "Right," the warrior said, holding the Light out in front of him, "this way."

Aaaah, I regret my inactivity on the forums now. Though it was fun to read p. 17 and 18. I have to admit that I am quite worried for Nilon and Co...... To ease my thought a little, I'm trying to figure out if Jason and Slayer would be a nice pair :) Pairing people up is one of the funniest things I know, so expect me to come with many and silly pair-ups :P
Worried? Why?
And to pair them up, first you'd have to figure out what race Slayer is.
On another note, I really think Nilon and Celen would make a good couple... oh wait...

Writer's Commentary:
- Looking back on the complete Chapter Two - having finished it and are currently in the process of writing Chapter Three - I wish I'd included more traps. However, the end result of the chapter is still excellent, in my eyes.
- It took me some time to figure out who, exactly, I wanted to use for Anuk'arag's Doctor. I knew I wanted to use someone that was already in-game, and so I began to process of sorting through the Wowhead databanks to find the perfect canadite.
- In the end, however, I settled on
Doctor Kohler
.
- A close call for Slayer. And will we see any more of Kohler, or will Anuk'arag just be magically healed?

- The horrendous scream echoed through the halls, causing all bu the death knight to flinch. "What
was
that?" asked Slayer.
- "Scourge expiramentation," Rey replied. "You get used to the sound after a while. Someone's working on something horrible." He nodded. "I suggest we keep our eyes open for an abomination - or worse - in the near future."
