Is pvp gear still superior for tanking?

Decided to start gearing my druid for filling any potential empty tanking slots in the guilds ICC10 runs and i vaguely remember that pvp gear was better for tanking back in 3.0 but not sure how that holds up now.

1-2 pieces is
acceptable
as they
generally
offer superior EH than pve gear but full pvp has never and will never be better than full pve and in most cases having pve gear instead of those 1-2 pvp pieces would still be better overall.
PvP tends to have less hit, expertise, AP, and sockets than PvE gear, PvP gear tends to have more stamina and blue sockets than PvE.

The only reason for which PvE pieces are 'better' is because they offer stats like haste / armor penetration / expertise - which the PvP pieces do not have. But as long as you can get your hit and especially a decent amount of expertise from amulets / rings / cloaks, PvP gear offers a solid alternative. Don't discard them as an option just because 'PvP gear belongs in PvP'. PvP gear usually offers more stamina (about 10% more) and that alone makes it an excellent choice for effective health gear sets.
But there is a catch: ICC gear comes usually with one more socket than the 'average' items seen before; gloves, shoulders, belts, boots - all of these offer 2 sockets and compared to only one on equivalent PvP pieces (example:
PvP belt
vs
PvE belt
) and also slightly higher agility. These extra sockets make PvE gear the better choice in Tier 10 raid content. Still, PvP pieces offer a good alternative if you can't get your hands on PvE items from ICC. If you are anywhere in Tier 9 or lower raid content, then PvP gear has a lot of tanking value to offer.

There is one slot where PvP gear is a lot better then PvE:
Weapons
. Heroic blood fall has 8 AGI, 1 socket and minor threat stats more, but
92
stamina less.
In general, PvP gear offers more survival at the cost of threat and avoidance (less agi). I wouldn't wear more then 1-2 slots of PvP gear though, maybe more when gearing up and it's what's available

that socket equals 30 stam though, so I think of it as 62 stam less. Which is still huge ofc.
Nitpicking and all that ...

Well, i've got no plans to do any arena on my druid, was mostly comparing the t9 vs furious set
Thanks for clarifying though.

More even
comparison
, the best of the best PvP weapon with the best of the best PvE weapon.
PvP and PvE gear tends to hold true to this pattern most of the time in that PvP offers generally superior EH and PvE offers generally superior threat.
