How to get into raiding?

It seems to me that the players raiding nowadays are those who have done raids since atleast from the beginning of wrath and the re-opening of naxx. I never got geared up to then and before i knew it, Ulduar was released. So with the req cap set even higher and less runs through Naxx I didnt know how I should make it, and now the lich king himself is avavible and I wont probably be doing him for a time....
My main question is as the headline says: How do I get into raiding? Is there any guilds which recruits small-time tanks like myself and helps them in the process from Dungoens to full-size raids?
I am really just tired of doing dungoens since, I did dungoens since i entered Northrend, then did HC's for the gear and im still doing HC's now for friggin marks.... I just wanna raid folks thats all, but when everyone wants to see the achievement you dont have yet, its pretty obvious they wont let you in.

Im on good way to max out my gear, but I need marks and marks mean more &*!@ing HC's which I'm bloody tired of...
Thanks in advance for any help you might provide...

depends on what you define as raiding.
if you want in a progression raiding guild you are out of luck and will have to wait it out till next expansion i'm afraid. they recruit prior to big patch not during patches when the 'race' is on
if you want in a guild that just raids, then just go for it. talk to the officers, make a post on their forum. eventually you'll find one, if it is what you hoped for i dunno.
but you can always climb up to better guilds and at least you'll have raiding experience. which at start of next expansion can help you get in a good guild. not saying you can't get in one now, but well there are always more applicants than there are raid spots and you don't have a whole lot going for you right now.

In terms of gear, ToC 10 drops 232 loot, and you can get almost a full set of 232/245 loot from heroics. Considering that people used to do ToC without a single piece of anything that was 232, it's safe to say you can gear for that through heroics without bothering on spending a huge fortune on craftables, and it IS still run pretty commonly. Getting into pugs and guilds when you haven't been before requires some patience. If you have a DPS set, you could more easily get into a guild's ToC 10 runs to at least show that you aren't a moron, and then start tanking for them.

Untrue, mental block you are putting in your head.
The emblem system and ICC heroics that blizz put into place allows you to skip any old raids for the newest one.
I dinged on Christmas this past year and am now raiding 10 man ICC as MT and 25 man.

Guilds: these are the best way to raid. I PuG absolutely everything due to my schedule being super jumpy, but i have to say being in a solid guild which raids will be your best bet.
To get into said guilds or PuGs if you choose to run unguilded, is hard when your facing competition from all the other fully geared/partially geared raid tanks. However to up ypur chances to get into runs, and effectively take the place of other tanks wanting that same spot you should consider;
- HoS Hc - Neck piece
- 30Stam Enchant on shoulders
- 40 stam on Bracers
- New (crafted ilvl 245 bracers)
- The ilvl 245 head piece
- HoS Normal Sheild
- 18 Stam Sheild Enchant
- Running with food buffs
- Running with flasks
- + 275 HP Enchant on Chest
- ToC Ring (+Epic stam gem)
- Stam Enchant on Boots (or Tuskars vitality)
- Mongoose on your weapon
- PoS Hc Wep (Rimefang's claw)
- FoS Hc - ilvl232 boots
- ilvl 226 Conquest emblem belt
- As soon as your Def rating reaches 540, start gemming for max HP, cut the "i'm gemming for socket bonuses" m'larky and get that HP up!
- Frost Emblem gear (doing weekly raid quests + Daily HC's will net you enough badges to get these asap)
Thats a rather long list, but dont worry, lots of that is fixable in a day or two, a week at most. I'd take you into ToC 10 and Ony 10 at the very least with what you have at present IF you proved yourself not to be a complete bonehead (i am not suggesting you are btw) - Also if you get into a group with someone on your server who is in a good guild, try to be on top form, if you are lucky they will ask you if you fancy applying, or give them a gentle probe asking if its worth asking about. - Keep at it and you'll sonn be "in the loop"
P.S. You could also consider running raids yourself, thats what i did when u started - just make sure you read up on enough tactics to be able to advise people if they have no idea, it doesnt look good if teh RL has no idea of how to strategise a raid (having ML on for example also helps - no loot drama)

related question... Does anyone bother with any pre80 raids anymore? And also does anyone run the vanilla raids anymore? Some one told me about 2 months ago not to bother trying to get gear from Molten Core because no one runs it. I think they were right since I sat in the LFG system for 3 hours with actually no one else wanting to do any.

Mastorbaitor, its namely for practical reasons. Namely people have "better" things to do with their time, be it unning heroics, BG's, WG, current raid content, running uildies through slightly older (still 80) content, dailys, alt leveling etc.
People do still run places like MC, but as its mostly for nostalgic/fun/achievement/vanity reasons its not as common as the first list of things, people simply prefer (generally speaking) to do these.
But they are fun! so if ya wanna go, advertise on trade or such and you should have some coming with ya soon enough
