Leveling as Healer using LFD

So I am currently leveling a Restoration Druid by using the LFD tool. I got bored of healing and decided to respec Boomking for some variety, and noticed that the queues are 10minutes long as a DPS. This would sound reasonable, if it wasn't for the fact that the queues are 10minutes long as a Healer aswell.
Seeing that there are probably more DPSrs than there are Healers, shouldn't the demand for healers be a lot higher than it is for DPSs?
As it is right now, I'm under the impression that both DPSs and Healers have the same level of demand on them. Could this really be, or is Blizzard just playing tricks on me?

At the lower levels, there's a lot of DPS and a lot of healers, and the limiting factor is the tanks.
Regardless, I think your experience is a little skewed. My low level tank queues are instant, my healer queues are a couple minutes usually, and DPS queues can be upwards of 10.

I just spent a whole day where all queues took aproximately 10 minutes each as a DPS. While the queues as a Healer have varied from between 5-10 minutes.
This isn't something I feel like I experience, but I've actually timed the queues to see how long it takes for me to get into a random dungeon.

You also should take into account that every group needs three dps and only one healer; so if dps outnumbers healers around 3 to 1, they will have similar queue times.

If you're leveling a druid (or warrior, or paladin, but not a deathknight, at least until you've played for a few levels and know what the heck you're doing) through LFD, IMO the way to go is tank. A good tank can make up for a so-so healer (or even moderately poor if you're good enough/take the right talents - I'd go something like
this
on the way up for max survivability. You can still cat outside of instances, and you have health regen talents + a temporary health boost for hairy situations. Stack agi, crit, and stamina.) while a great healer will never be able to carry a crappy tank. I've done both, and the process is so much smoother as a tank. In addition, as a druid you have the advantage that you reach the defense soft cap at L37, meaning you're that much tougher than every other tank out there.
In addition, EVERYBODY is looking for tanks. When I was leveling my tank, I'd hit the LFD button and be in an instance in fifteen seconds. As a healer, it can be 2-3 minutes. As DPS, go take a nap and come back in half an hour.

I'm in same boat as you. level 50 to high 50s the queue was about same as healer and dps. I'd queue up as both and have about 40% chance of being a dps.
At 60 the healer queue is instant. Probably because of all the DK's who tank.
BTW, I have a 73 warrior tank and the queue is like 10 minutes on him, so I hardly level him. My guess is tanks=dps from 60-79.
My priest is 64 currently.

People don't queue as a tank because they don't want to tank.
However, a lot will queue as heals if the class is capable of healing. I'm leveling a priest, and I queue as heals/DPS. I probably get into dungeons as DPS around 50% of the time.
This is only so true.
I got a druid tank the other day.... We zoned in, he went to cat form and asked who wanted to tank. We told him he was the tank, and he said he just chose that to get faster queues......
People like that should get huge penalties for abusing the system. With the disparity of times, I'm seeing it more and more often. Either they try to tank with no tanking gear at all, or they don't even attempt to tank, locking everyone out for 15 minutes.

Its dependant on which instance as well. Generally tanks on random heroics are instant queues. Healers have the 2nd shortest wait and dps is the longest. If you queue for a specific instance, it could be longer.
I know for ToC and HoR that I get into a group faster queued as a healer than as a tank. If you play a class that does both, its easy to see. Queue as both and see what pops up first. The tank role is usually fastest except for those two instances. The reason maybe is because a lot of tanks are seeking the gear in those places and sometimes its harder to play a healer.

Ugh I hate this. Earlier today on my shaman I got a RFC group where the "tank" was a RESTO druid. He went to bear form, sure, but he did a crappy job. I don't even he was using Swipe. So the ret paladin started to tank, but then the resto druid started throwing out heals and aggroed everything (the priest chewed him out).
Now once I got, I think a paladin or warrior who said they only queued as tank to get faster queue, and even though that was their first time tanking they wanted to try it, and they weren't bad.
